04 rx8 vs 03 mitsubishi eclipse
not sure what type the eclipse is, but is there any way a 6 speed rx8 with a borla catback exhaust could lose to an 03 mitsubishi eclipse that is stock, even if the eclipse is like a gt-s or something?

If you suck at shifting....then you will lose. Equal drivers, the rx8 will win. When I used to be in the 7th generation celica scene, I know Celica GT-S' would beat the crap out of eclipses (as they are very heavy). Im perty sure an rx-8 6-speed is a bit faster than a Celica GT-S...

i'm pretty good at shifting, i dont know the exact time it takes me to shift gears but its about as fast as you can say "owned" as fast as you can haha. i was just wondering cause my friend got one and wants to race me really bad, i am pretty sure i can beat him but i just wanted to double check cause it would be pretty embarassing to get beat by an eclipse haha.. i might have my turbo when i race him, so if i do then i wont be worried, but im not sure how much longer its gonna take for me to get my money for hail damage and all...

yea there is a drag strip about 20 min. away from my house and they have a time at the beginning of the night for beginners, so me and the guy will just get in line for that, should be fun.

Yea, you can lose with a bad launch...well..not a bad launch but a launch that is not optimal. I used to have a 3G Eclipse. If you're going up against a GT then make sure you hit the sweet spot (i still don't know where it is) and get up off the clutch the right way (don't got the feel right either). The GT-S has a different head but is also heavier by a few pounds. The different head only gives allows another 20Hp which transaltes to about 4-5lbs of torque at peak rpm (maybe my math is funny). But, to surmise, just do it, if you lose it's your fault....
