I would buy a new one since the older models sensors commonly fail.

Left me quess your coolant light is going on and off and the coolant level is fine?

You can try taking the rsovior out and let vinegar soak in it overnight and then flush it out real good with water and re-install. That may work if you want to try it? It has worked for some.
