If you have Either K&N i'll also consider that.

A friend of mine told me that The Full cold air intakes which ofcourse r better like during winter are able to maybe suck up water since its much lower and by the wheel when installled and would kill your engine is that true? cuz then what do peopel do when it rains or Snows or whatever

how to jude performance?
thats a tough one considering intakes alone don't really add much performance. you'll be lucky if you get a few horses out of an intake

3 real choices for intake.
1. Stock
2. Racing beat revi
3. AEM CAI (aka MS CAI)
If you plan on going turbo, you can reuse the AEM CAI parts. The other choices will have to be replaced.
Gains are minimal, the oem intake is fairly well designed, but like most stock stuff, they run quiet.

i've had both... revi is nice if you get the duct, but it looks and sounds almost like stock, you may as well keep the oem intake and buy the $120 duct add-on.
The AEM is nice, it puts the filter out in front of the car. I have the mazdaspeed bumper, so the grill cuts down on bugs and crap that might otherwise smash into it.
You can get the AEM for around $310 range shipped.

yeah I want perforomance but ofcourse i just want my car to sound really nice also. thats my main goal right now lol i'll go turbo eventually in life but not right now SO a K&N isnt good either? I have regular Stock rx8 Bumper so hopefully it'll be good enough i guess. SO you guys positn a cold air intake has no risk of liek sucking up water and killing your car?

water can get into your engine. It's not a big deal. In fact, I pour water into my engine once in a while to clean it out.
You would have issue if you sucked up only water and no air though.

dont waste your time or money on an intake...put a drop in green filter into your stock box.....Sportcar Magazine found that the greenfilter out performed the K/N drop in......and both do about the same crappy numbers as any of the other intakes.

As you read further you'll find out that, intake, midpipe and/or exhaust are not going to do much of anything in terms of getting any appreciable "performance". So if you're going to toss out a bunch of money for a mere couple horses be my guest.
If you want your car to "sound" different than yeah an intake/exhaust will do that. Depending on the exhuast you may be able to shave some weight to boot.

If you keep the stock box you can do the DIY airbox mod. I can't tell you if it did anything for me, but it was something I could do... it sounds a tad and a mean a tad different too, haha.

i used ot have the revi- and even though it was a great intake.. you notice nothing besides the sound... i ended up selling it since i went turbo.. wish i got the aem... could really use that right now with the turbo set up-_-

So with stock air intake u can just add in a revi air duct and it will sound a bit better instead of going and wasting around 300 for a different intake? Also i just did the mod but if u take out the air filter thingy wat would happen?

Ive been using the AEM intake for awhile now, it makes a great sound but like everyone else is saying it wont help much on the performance side because the oem intake is already developed to perform well for the car. So in the end if you got 300 bucks laying around and want a meaner sound then get one but if you want performance id look a different way.

yeah, and if you're looking for performance improvements, you're going to have to look a really different way, away from the RX8.
Save your money and just buy a drop in air filter, like a K/N or green filter drop in. Both are re-useable and re-chargeable.....and maybe consider just the revi air duct.....or just save your money entirely and stick with the stock box and filter element. Don't out think this....Mazda did an excellent job witht he stock parts.

^^^ I gotta disagree with you on that one.
We did a dyno day about 18 months ago and 5 of the top 6 cars (out of 20) ALL had Racing Beat intakes and RB exhausts. hmmmm.....
