I got the dark purple colored Japanese version off of Amazon earlier this year for like $35 U.S. (ShockBlast is its name, Decepticon). It's made of metal, so it's pretty heavy (better than the American version).

I think it may have gone up in price since then, so $35 for this one is a pretty good deal. Looks great in either form (robot or car), had it on my desk at work for a while.

I doubt the 8 was ever considered being in the movie since it was a big deal for GM. I'm amazed that a Ford Mustang made an appearance. I think the 8 makes an awesome looking transformer. For those who are interested....they have a whole series of production car transformers called Alternators. They are scaled down replicas of the real cars that transform. I just purchased another one of these only it's a S2000 to go with the new car =)

 

No I meant the character that turns into the 8. Meister. Wasn't he in the movie? I actually never saw it cause I had better things to spend $10 on.

 

if anyone should get this is me, after all, im the only rx8 with a decepticon emblem in the front of my car, lol. and yes the 8 was considered in the movie, early in the script but they went with the pontiac Soltice instead. its all good cause the soltice (jAZZ) gets killed anyways. I wouldnt want our beautiful 8's to go out like that
