I bought these 225/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires brand new on 3-14-2009 and the tread is about 8/32".

Because I'm going to a wider tire. Also in order to answer a few questions people have posed:
1) Yes, these are 225/35/18. Tirerack carried them up about March of this year, but they are no longer on the site. That's why I posted a link to the 225/40/18 for specs.
2) Yes, these are shorter than you stock tires, but this gives you a numerical higher gear ratio for better acceleration.
