That looks fantastic for 100k miles of use; I'd believe it was from a car with only 10k.

Did you take any special precautions with handling or cleaning to keep it in such good shape? I ask as my car's wheel was ruined by the previous owner and I just bought one in similar shape to yours and would prefer to keep it that way for as long as possible.

 

It was already in good shape when I got the car in 2012, just a little dirty. I cleaned it up using a good leather cleaner, and just maintained it since then. I'm pretty meticulous about having clean hands, so I never have any oils/lotions/whatever else on them to transfer to the steering wheel and dirty up/break down the leather.

 

A steering wheel cover is probably how it's done.

All the wear will just show up on the cover, which you can just replace if it bothers you.
