I always refer to it as my rear center console. I'm not sure of the corerct terminiology.

I have one that was made into a speaker box if you are interested. Holds 2 8" speakers.

I just leave mine out. The rear center console compartment is right below that. The owners manual refers to it as a rear glove box (once again I think so), but I like it called a drug compartment better
