500$ is there something special about this thing that i dont know about or does the cf just look pretty under the hood?

Well, It's a wet carbon intake set up from RE Amemiya, a Japanese rotary tuning company that is very famous in Japan. It retails for nearly $950 brand new, and this one is used, but in mint condition

Its because RE Amemiya...

My friend got his intake from them for his Rsx type S Aspec. It was about 800 bucks.

Your friend probably got a Mugen intake, RE Amemiya only makes Mazda Parts...
