FS: Phantom Blue (green+blue) 194 LED bulbs - Tentative

I have blue LED bulbs in my car, but its phantom blue, far from pure blue. So i soldered together some 194s, but they dont work. Finally I found a company that will make me them, but only in packs of 25 or 100. Would anyone be interested in buying a few. probably only price em at ~5$, my cost from the manufacturer depends on the quantity, from 3-5$ each for me... im not really looking to make money, just to get back some of what i spent since i dont need 100 light bulbs and i will probably break my car before i could use them.

They are 5 LED matrix like the ones from http://www.vleds.com with green around the edge and blue shining forwards.
I think it would be a neat effect especially for Door courtesy and Map lights.
Im going to need to decide soon so let me know and how many youll want so i make the right bulk order purchase.

PM or post. its all good.

Cool

You've got my interest. Although I would like to see the bulb your talking about. I like my blue door lights but they don't fit in the map location very well. And the blue dome keeps going out. Need more info, price, bulb design ect. ect......

Why don't the soldered together 194's work?
What did you do? Did you just try to daisy chain them together?

Oh......I'm not interested in the combo......sorry.

I doubt it's a bulb he's talking about.....probably LED, and you can click the link he provided to go look for 194 LEDs that will fit in there just fine.

Here's a link to what I have going on.

the answers were all in the first post. roughly 5 bucks, they are the 5 LED refractor type. If you bought the blue festoon bulb for the rear dome from rx8strakes, mine kept not working either, i bought a different one from vleds.com / frickinbrite, works good. the design is green shining around the side, and blue shining forward.

I tried to solder my own, I bought green and blue 3mm single LEDS from modsthatglow.com after a 2 week wait, I soldered them without resistors, in series, I did 3 LEDs 4LEDs and 5LEDs, and then i used heat shrink tubing / glue gun, to keep the wires from shorting and jammed them in the bottom of a 194 bulb that i snapped open, so i could bend the leads around the edge and get a nice secure fit into the sockets. sometimes the bulbs wouldnt go on, sometimes they would then appear to pop and burn out... man i dunno... i did a calculation with 2.8V drop on the blues and 3.3V on the green, using 20 25 or 20ma on the bulbs, 12V supply, and figured i didnt need resistors. I emailed modsthatglow for questions, never recieved any response... in addition to the 3 week total processing time, i would not recommend them to anyone.

so i had called all the LED companies for making me green/blue ones, they all said either min order of 1000 pieces or like 600$, finally one guy called me back and said he found a leftover box of these custom made green/blue LEDs he could sell me at a discount, however he still wants a minimum order of 25-100, which is a lot more than i need, so if anyone wants to split it, thats why i made this thread.

i have pure blue in right now, looks allright, but at nighttime and morning when phantom blue turns more green, and you see the LEDs inside a hell of a lot more than in the daytime, a green shade in the LED would look a whole lot better. Also being 194s, for shows and whatnot I can stick them in the side markers etc, and i think it would give a neat shaded effect on the marker lights especially because of the refraction in the plastic. I bought a "shattered glass" plastic for making light covers, going to try modifying the maplights to give a neater effect eventually.

so yea...
