no, its the mp3 player.

i have no idea why mazda did not combine the 6 disc and the mp3 player. stupid imo.

You still have this unit? My RX8 has the 6 disc, I take it I have to junk them both and just replace with this MP3 deck instead? Sorry for the dumb questions, just got the 05 about 2 weeks ago. Don't know if the decks are all compatible (plug and play or plug and pray.. )

 

Yes- this is still available. The CD player portion of your head unit is modular. It can be unbolted and unplugged from the head unit and replaced with other flavors. As someone else mentioned a few posts back, Mazda offers the following three CD options:

Single disc - audio CD only
Single disc - MP3 CD and audio CD
Six disc - audio CD only

This player will be compatible with your RX-8.
