Feeler: Upgraded OEM HID's Headlights

This is a feller for sale thread. What I have here is a set of RX8 headlights, but I don’t just want to sell them outright. I would like to provide a service to the RX8 community. I would like to help anyone who is interested in me mod/upgrading their HID headlights for them. How, you ask? Well I was thinking that I could send you these modded headlights for your stock headlights. What I would do is ship these headlights to you. When you receive them you would put then in on your car, in exchange you would send me yours. If I have the lenses I would mod them and I could probably ship them back that same day. That way you would not have any down time for your car.

If you are worried about voiding your warranty don’t, looking at the headlights you will not see any differences. What I have done is mod the cut off shield and change the projector lenses. And as you can see that will give you about twice the light out put along with a nice blue cut off.

I’m thinking of charging $100 per headlight for parts and labor. This will all depend on how much I can purchase the lenses for? I can even paint the chrome part if you like that black out look, for an extra $50. I may even be able to color match the headlight housing to the color of the car. (I’m still looking into that)

If anyone has has donor lights or an extra set of headlights that they are not using, PM I may want to purchase the headlights from you. I may even use some local from the 831 area as my first customer, so if any in or around Salinas, give me a holla.

That's my screen name yesterday's date & both headlights

Pic of the stock HID headlight before

And after modded headlight.

The lens is from a company that specializes in optics. I have had great results with these lenses. The projector stays the same.

You really dont remove anything. The main thing is replacing the lens with a special clear one. There are other things that you "tweak" to get the clarity and output as shown above.

Im actually finishing up a set for someone right now. Ill take some pics as soon as its done.

Uh yeah, I'd assume so.

I don't understand why you are being secretive about the lens being used. Most of us interested in a lens swapping project have done the research on what lens size is swappable, the type of lens, and were we can get them from. For those who don't know, they can simply go on hidplanet and find out.

I can assure you that many people interested in your offer has some basic knowledge of what to use and how to do it, but they rather not go through the trouble and have you do it instead.

Again, i don't see why you are being secretive about the lenses. We should have the right to know what kind of lenses you will be putting in our headlights if we were to pay the money to get them done.

The lenses I am using are from a company called The Retrofit Source. The are not really advertised yet because the just came out. I am NOT using tsx or S2k lenses. It is the stock housing.

Also, If people are interested. I have a good source on 5000k bulbs that really look good. They look alot better than the OEM 4300k. Perfect amount of blue. Takes out the yellow of the stock bulb basically.

I can also get any other color but I prefer the 5000k. The brand is Morimoto. Very good brand.
