Comple single DIN Metra Kit - Alpine + Steering wheel controller + Climate controls

Category: Audio/Video/Electronics
Price: $140
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): Series I
Location (US State/Canada/Int): CA
Item Condition: Used

*****SOLD*****

Recently switched to stock HUD - because I wanted the stock look. Hence have the following:
*Single DIN Metra Kit with a complete wiring harness build for Alpine.
* Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (with interface to wiring harness)
*RCA inputs with isolator.
* Includes the assembled climate controls.
****Should be really easy to install - just plug and play really - for Alpine radios. (The wiring harness is on the shorter side - but adequate for installation. It's a properly made wiring harness). ****

Total Cost: $ 140 (local pickup - San Diego, CA). $170 shipped.
* Can include the Alpine CDE-HD137BT for an extra $50

It hooks up to a socket coming out of the Metra unit - you can see it in the second picture.

I can also sell the system without the Alpine head unit for $140 ($170 shipped). You can make it a double-DIN system too by just buying the frame.

Oh now I get it - sorry I don't know where you can get that wire if you lost the one which comes with the kit. You could try contacting the Metra kit folks I guess.

The controller is not that expensive new - at this point don't want to take stuff off the package (except the head unit as mentioned above). The real advantage is that I have the entire harness made and it should be just plug and play.

A few questions:

I have a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX-8 which has the Bose setup. Will your setup, including the Alpine HU, be fully functional in my car? Will it be plug & play or will I need to add items or modify anything? I apologize for my ignorance. I have not started to research RX-8 audio issues to fully understand the challenges and options.

When you say it includes the assembled climate controls, does that mean the three *****/buttons along the bottom? Does it also include the emergency flasher button at the top?

What condition is everything, including the Alpine HU, both cosmetic and operational?

Is this the glossy or matte finish Metra kit?

Thanks- I'm obviously interested.

2008 is still Series I and hence should work. I had the Bose setup too. I tried to answer some of your questions below - the audio threads on this forum have a ton of info too:
* The assembled climate controls are included - including the flasher. So you just have to plug them in.
* Appearance - in my opinion is pretty good. I tried to take some higher resolution pictures and here is the link to check it out. (https://www.flickr.com/gp/arvisbest/u09UH8/)
* They are in full operational condition - everything was working when I took it out of the car.

Some important things:
* The BOSE system has separate amplifiers and hence need to be driven by a line level output from the aftermarket headunit. That is why I have the RCA connectors as you can see in the pictures.
* Some cars can have alternator whine audible over the stereo with aftermarket systems. My car had this problem and that is why I have the ground-loop isolators on the RCA input - this helps to remove the whine. But I also know of cars which didn't even need the ground loop isolation. The most likely reason is the ground connection of the head unit and amplifier. The alternator produces an AC ripple current which can show up as a audio signal if the grounds are not strongly tied together (i.e. low resistance) - atleast my hypothesis. It is most likely that you will not have this problem when using the ground loop isolator (which is included in my harness).
* My harness is well built but a bit on the shorter side - so you have to route it carefully - but everything fits.
* In any case this is exactly the same aftermarket setup that most people have - so nothing new in terms of what to expect.
* So best case - just plug and play. Worst case - minor tweaks which everybody else who has had these problems have had to do. More info on the audio section of the forum.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your answers and additional photos.

I have a few follow-on questions:

Is the microphone for the hands free Bluetooth phone included?

What do you have installed in the storage pocket of the Metra kit?

What's the purpose of the stereo 1/8-inch plug that's part of the harness?

Calling dibs on this entire package :}

Great - answers to your questions below:

Is the microphone for the hands free Bluetooth phone included? -- Yes, but there was a clip which came with it which I cannot find.

What do you have installed in the storage pocket of the Metra kit?-- Good catch :-) Those are 2 extra USB ports (for power). They have a connector which plugs into the harness I have - can be very easily removed. I just velcroed them to the side basically.

What's the purpose of the stereo 1/8-inch plug that's part of the harness? -- That is the steering wheel adapter's interface - it plug's in to the back of the stereo.
