i have an rx8 auxmod here for sale and a ground-loop isolator that i bought to go with it, but i never had the chance to install them. I ordered them and not too long after saw my rx8 story come to an unfortunate end. I had an 04 mazda rx8 and this is the best available way to add an auxport, according to my technician.

It installs in the aux port on the back of the CD player where you would put the tap deck etc.

Its not as fancy as the other units but it gets the job done and you can make a very clean install with it.

For the price its an amazing deal

It is a custom connection converter from aux (8mm jack) to the tape deck inside the stereo system. This allows you to play your music into the stereo through the auxmod (the stereo thinks it is playing a tape).

And the one pictured in this thread only connects via 8mm jack. I believe there's a different version that allowed an ipod connection, but I have never seen one.
