For those who don't already know:
just to clarify, when buying a "refurbished" part, one pays the price of the "refurbished unit" plus an additional charge for the "core" that was used in the rebuilt/ refurbished part. Once the old "core" (unit being replaced) is sent back and received by the part refurbisher, that "core charge" is refunded to the buyer.

For example on partsgeek.com:

(refurbished alternator 95.47)+ (core 80) + (shipping 9.95) = 185.42
