Go with mazda reman. Finding a used motor with those numbers is going to be tough unless the motor was just built with all new parts. Then it will most likely be ore expensive. I have them for $3299. I year/12k mile warranty. Compression tested around 136psi after about 100 miles on the last one I just installed.

Actually you can get a reman renesis from the dealer for 2400. Do a google search for part number n3h302200rv0. Then contact them to see if it is for 4/6 port engines. I know that this part number is for manual trannies. Do not go through the trouble of a used one from a yard/wreck. MOst of them do not check the compression and i have found some of those JDM imported motors have only 80-90 psi. You will see the trend with the prices. They were all at 3350-3500 and now have suddenbly dropped to 2400-2600 for a reman.

With high mileage nearly all SI rx-8s will have rotor housings worn beyond use so a rebuild is not cost effective.

Where are you finding Mazda remans for $2400-$2700? If thats the case I'm sure a lot of us would be very interested. The first 3 I found in a google search told me it was an old listing, and a 4th said they cannot ship motors. I used to be able to get a reman for under $2600. Mazda dealers were buying them up to replace motors under warranty. Since most 8s are now out of warranty, the demand for motors dropped, therefore prices went up.
