Yup, I hit something on the highway and BAM! no more MAzdaspeed front bumper. Now where the hell do I find another?

SleepeR1st 04-22-2011 08:26 AM

You could be dead, that would be the worst case scenario.

J8635621 04-22-2011 09:47 AM

Some dealerships still have primered ones.

dannobre 04-22-2011 09:48 AM

If it's an insurance claim...it really isn't your problem ;)

Roidz 04-22-2011 10:09 AM

Ouch, but it definitely could have been worse.

Alucard 04-22-2011 10:59 AM

+1 on that, a car and car parts can be replaced.. ur life cannot..

btw.. what did you hit?

felipeGTx 04-22-2011 09:04 PM

I hit a 18 wheelers blown tire. The insurance company called me and the bodyshop can't find the bumper and they don't do any after market work they wanted to use Mazda OEM bumper which I declined. They are now sending me a check for 3k to fix it, so I guess I might go with a body kit. What you guys think? feel like a winner :smoker: ...oh BTW thanks for the concern guys it definitely could of been worse.

SPHINX144 04-22-2011 09:23 PM

the same thing happened to me with a small piece of blown tire. I couldn't avoid
it because of traffic.
I broke the under tray but the bumper didn't shattered. I just reattached the hanging pieces if plastic with cable ties until I buy a new under tray and a good front aftermarket bumper.

felipeGTx 04-22-2011 09:29 PM

well the tire also took out the radiator and under lights but it was already replaced. I just need to find a good kit and a body shop.

3k is not bad. definitely a win:cwm27:

Go with the kit. Or even better, go aftermarket and keep the cash, lol

tiltmode43 04-22-2011 10:49 PM

Looks like you came out on top on this one :icon_tup:

Kaiser bun 04-22-2011 11:09 PM

you can get a primered one and paint it for less then 3k if your not looking for changes :dunno:

hoss -05 04-23-2011 12:50 AM

The only other one with the fit finish and quality of OEM is the real mazdaspeed one.... and a few very expensive JDM ones. I would look for a good used mazdaspeed front bumper.

There are a few guys in Austen that I'm sure could recommend a good body and paint shop.

Brian Major 04-23-2011 01:34 AM

could of busted the radiator

monchie 04-23-2011 01:45 AM

Use super glue to put it back together

felipeGTx 04-23-2011 12:23 PM

I was going to go with the super glue method and come out winning 3k :naughty:, but decided to g with after market body kit I already found a shop they are asking 1500.00 to install and also mold the kit into the body, there goes half and kit I want is 800.00. So the rest may go into some nice rims.

lordagrabah 04-23-2011 01:14 PM

killeen hhhmmmm. let me guess, Ft. Hood?

Yay for muniez :)

Good luck with the new makeover!

warren(silver-roxy-8) 04-23-2011 03:23 PM

take the bumper off (don't buy another) buy a turbo kit instead.....with the additional horsepower, you can just push through most of the wind resistance, due to lack of aerodynamics......oh and without a bumper, an intercooler will get more air flow....problem solved :101384_l:

felipeGTx 04-23-2011 09:03 PM

ha ha yup Fort HooD! The plan to just get a turbo is tempting but naw...lol  I am taking it in on Monday to the shop the kit should be delivered there by then. I got the J-speed body kit never seen it around here so should be the only one in my area. :fingersx: Hope it comes out clean. I will post pictures once in progress.

MS Addict 04-24-2011 12:14 PM

On my trip back up from Florida, not driving my car, before I got it(Driving a Taurus), I was behind 4 rigs. Went on and started pulling out to pass them, and with how it was, I couldn't see much of the road. Well, I pull out, and hit a large chunk of tire, sweet. Everything seems fine, until I get home.

Apparently, the only damage that it did, was to nearly take the oil filter off. It was hit, and loosened enough to back off, and the oil was coming out of it. (The low oil pressure light only flashed twice over the entire trip, not repeatedly, just on for a split second, and back off. Stupid me figured it was a glitch, hours later at this point, and hours in between.)

Almost costed an engine, it ended up needing 4 quarts, when the capacity is 4.5.

But getting $3k back sounds like a winner. You can get a new bumper, and some maintenance done and up to date, or whatever.

TacoMan 04-24-2011 12:17 PM

Niceee you know how many lap dances you can get with 3k?? (;

felipeGTx 04-24-2011 12:43 PM

When I get the check I will go in to a strip club with the 3k will come back with numbers by monday. I will post pictures and results. i am guessing about 140 dances and no alcohol involved, with alcohol it would bring it to 50 dances.
