You could be dead, that would be the worst case scenario.

If it's an insurance claim...it really isn't your problem

TX

I hit a 18 wheelers blown tire. The insurance company called me and the bodyshop can't find the bumper and they don't do any after market work they wanted to use Mazda OEM bumper which I declined. They are now sending me a check for 3k to fix it, so I guess I might go with a body kit. What you guys think? feel like a winner ...oh BTW thanks for the concern guys it definitely could of been worse.

the same thing happened to me with a small piece of blown tire. I couldn't avoid
it because of traffic.
I broke the under tray but the bumper didn't shattered. I just reattached the hanging pieces if plastic with cable ties until I buy a new under tray and a good front aftermarket bumper.

well the tire also took out the radiator and under lights but it was already replaced. I just need to find a good kit and a body shop.

3k is not bad. definitely a win

Go with the kit. Or even better, go aftermarket and keep the cash, lol

The only other one with the fit finish and quality of OEM is the real mazdaspeed one.... and a few very expensive JDM ones. I would look for a good used mazdaspeed front bumper.

There are a few guys in Austen that I'm sure could recommend a good body and paint shop.

I was going to go with the super glue method and come out winning 3k , but decided to g with after market body kit I already found a shop they are asking 1500.00 to install and also mold the kit into the body, there goes half and kit I want is 800.00. So the rest may go into some nice rims.

take the bumper off (don't buy another) buy a turbo kit instead.....with the additional horsepower, you can just push through most of the wind resistance, due to lack of aerodynamics......oh and without a bumper, an intercooler will get more air flow....problem solved

ha ha yup Fort HooD! The plan to just get a turbo is tempting but naw...lol I am taking it in on Monday to the shop the kit should be delivered there by then. I got the J-speed body kit never seen it around here so should be the only one in my area. Hope it comes out clean. I will post pictures once in progress.

On my trip back up from Florida, not driving my car, before I got it(Driving a Taurus), I was behind 4 rigs. Went on and started pulling out to pass them, and with how it was, I couldn't see much of the road. Well, I pull out, and hit a large chunk of tire, sweet. Everything seems fine, until I get home.

Apparently, the only damage that it did, was to nearly take the oil filter off. It was hit, and loosened enough to back off, and the oil was coming out of it. (The low oil pressure light only flashed twice over the entire trip, not repeatedly, just on for a split second, and back off. Stupid me figured it was a glitch, hours later at this point, and hours in between.)

Almost costed an engine, it ended up needing 4 quarts, when the capacity is 4.5.

But getting $3k back sounds like a winner. You can get a new bumper, and some maintenance done and up to date, or whatever.

When I get the check I will go in to a strip club with the 3k will come back with numbers by monday. I will post pictures and results. i am guessing about 140 dances and no alcohol involved, with alcohol it would bring it to 50 dances.
