Winning Blue Supercharged RX-8

Got some new wheels and the weather was beautiful (high 70's, and sunny) so I decided to take a few pictures:

and a couple of older ones of the engine bay:

and for those of you that prefer Velocity Red over Winning Blue, here's a nice picture of marsredr100's supercharged ride:

So beautiful - I'm actually in Melbourne every year to visit family, we have pretty much matching cars except for the engine bay/MS spoiler...same stance/wheels/strakes/painted calipers.

next time I go FI, its going to be the Pettit S/C

Mazurfer 02-17-2008 07:04 PM

"G"................car looks good(as usual). How did the mounting go......any dings or scratches? If not, PM me with where you got your tires mounted as I'm not that happy with the two places I tried so far.
It was a nice day wasn't it? Spent all day clay barring for the first time, then waxing after that. Then I played around with the new Scanguage II that I just got.

nuke0907 02-17-2008 07:32 PM

looks awesome. WB FTW!

I went to Island Lincoln Mercury in Merritt Island because of a friend's recommendation. I looked at the wheels after they finished and at first glance they looked fine. When I got home I checked them a little more closely and noticed that one of them had a pretty decent sized scratch around the center. I don't think I can recommend them after seeing that, especially since I politely asked the guy to take his time and be careful.

XDEEDUBBX 02-17-2008 09:10 PM

very nice fellas

chrism 02-17-2008 09:27 PM

KraZy K 02 02-17-2008 09:31 PM

They both look amazing.

ivory8 02-17-2008 10:53 PM

awesome cars, what front bumper is on the red 1?

BigRed 02-17-2008 11:16 PM

I think racingbeat^ also, bastage, 'bout time you got some wheels! nice!

passtheapathy 02-18-2008 01:34 AM

I love it. Most of the really fast turboed/supercharged 8s on this site are horrifyingly ugly. Crazy front bumpers that look terrible, two tone garbage no one wants to look at, extremely ugly spoilers, gigantic front air dams...but yours is beautiful. Some rims, clear corners, and a good spoiler. And kudos for keeping the stock appearance package. :)

My8DriftsMe 02-18-2008 01:46 AM

Yess very sexy! ill give you my kidney for that set up! =]

jskup1 02-18-2008 04:47 AM

Very Nice Wheels!

Any more photos of the red 8 with the full RB bodykit?

Is the red 8's SC also Pettit? I'm assuming but thought I'd ask.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, the red's also a Pettit. I don't have any pictures of it handy, but maybe this evening I'll add a few more.

Yan 02-18-2008 09:58 AM

Wow!

Yeah, I totally agree... I even like the stock rims... but I like these better because they're an inch and a half wider, and almost 5 lbs lighter.

Nemesis8 02-18-2008 10:50 AM

I'd roll your filter to hide the seam on the bottom.

I've actually done that already, those pictures are 6 months old. Great minds think alike :)

I'm hoping to get my new MAF housing soon, I'll take some new engine bay pics then.

I take this back. They called asking how the service went, and when I brought up the scratches, they offered to repair the damage. From past experience, most places would just laugh in your face, these guys will own up to their mistakes... which leads me to believe they don't make mistakes often.

I'm heading back there a week from Thursday. We'll see how it goes.

Mazurfer 02-19-2008 10:28 AM

For what it's worth...........I stand there politely and don't let them use an air gun. I make sure they torque by hand after my first experience. :)

Yep............it's a Racing Beat front, and I assure you both cars are very sweet! I am envious and these two guys drive me nuts mentally about getting the S/C. They don't flaunt it, it just makes me want it so bad after seeing, hearing, and riding in it. I go back and forth on this each and every day! :banghead:

^^^ I predict this thread will get very interesting very soon

khronus79 02-20-2008 08:23 PM

Bastage, if you don't mind me asking, how much have you spend on your setup??? I'm thinking of going the FI route and the pettit supercharger is the one that appeals to me the most, specially after seeing it in person. I know the stage 2 sc retails for $7500 and installation is about $1000, but overall, including tuning other upgrades(if any), etc... how much has it been overall???

I was the second car to get it, so I had a pretty good deal. They raised the prices in the fall about 4 months after I got mine.

$4995 for the supercharger
$1400 for the interceptor-x (Which I later sold to a fellow forum member and used the proceeds to get the flash)

Installation was free.

In total, I spent about 6500(including taxes) on the Pettit kit. It's not cheap, but the peace of mind of it made it a bargain for me.

This is what they're currently charging:

Stage II 275 WHP & 185 lb/ft $6,694 tuned
Stage II CS 300 WHP & 195lb/ft $7,144 tuned

The tuning is basically a reflash of your ECU, and it's included in their price.

As for the thread getting ugly. I don't care. All he has is a worthless piece of paper

khronus79 02-20-2008 10:03 PM

Bastage, thanks for the quick response, I'm still doing my homework and researching as much as I can before going FI.

tiltmode43 02-20-2008 10:24 PM

fight fight fight

thank god my warranty is holding me back from fi...

ivory8 02-20-2008 10:32 PM

how many miles you got left....i have 58500 lol =)

Yeah, tell me more, and get into some real detail, since you are apparently pulling this stuff out your ass.

8600 posts / 46 months == 186 posts/month == incompatible with life.

He's right, go spend some time with your daughter, if you really have one. I hope she takes after her mom though.. for her sake.

On a lighter note, here's a picture of a very old Ford pickup I ran into while driving through the Great Smoky Mountains:

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/DSC02622.jpg

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...5/DSC02624.jpg

The owner was a pretty cool guy who basically takes his truck up into the mountains every few days to get some fresh air and enjoy the scenery.

And here's a car I ran into at the dragon:
