Winning Blue Rx8 with Painted Wheels "Plasti-Dip Black"
Well I decided to paint my wheels with the Plasti-Dip spray paint just to see how my rx8 would look like with black wheels. Here are the results, let me know what you guys think.

looks good

How fast have you driven with it this way? I want to know what kind of adhesion it has at 100+mph.
looks great, how easy was the plasti dip to work with
Haven't driven it faster than 50 mph.
Well the plasti dip was pretty east to work with. I'm no pro at spray painting but I would say it came out decent. Like I said I painted them to see how it would look with the black wheels and well I like it. :) |

I think they look better stock color, just get some 25 mm spacer.
Plasti-dip is very popular in the VW scene, I've always been curious about it myself.
Who in the world would use black wheels on a blue car??
Looks good. Spacers and a drop will make it look even better.
looks great, can you keep us updated on how the wheels are holding up with regular use...eg: washing car, driving.
Thanks....Sure thing I've washed it once and so far its holding up pretty good.
I used the plasti dip on my interior A-Pillars it seems like it would start to peel easily if its on the outside or an area that is touched a lot. Will be interesting to see how it holds up.
I've been looking into doing this too.. Looks nice, so I will be interested to see how it holds up.
Not bad. We'll see if it's gonna last.
Did you paint your tires too?? Or is that just some serious coats of tire shine?
LOL nah I didn't paint tires....I use Black Magic Tire Wet " Foam ". Works great! One coat is all you need.
Any updates on durability?
Yeah, is it still stickin'?
ok so i already have black wheels but ive gotten really curious myself about this plasti dip so im gonna try it out on my wheels i live in the south with heat so we will see how it hold up to the southern heat and test out its durability ill post pics of the plasti dip when im done

Looks nice. Plastic dip is fantastic to work with. Comes out kind of oily and segregated. But it spreads amazingly and has an awesome finished look. I did it to my 2010 lancer and it looked awesome for the first couple months. The only thing I came across was it looked like they were beginning to fade from the summer sun. They held up great at speed, car washes, and just about everything else. And the best is, IF they begin to fade, just peel it off then re paint them.
I was thinking about doing it but I also have a WB rx8. And I can't decide if I like the stock black on blue look. |
I got like 6 cans of plasti dip painted all my emblems and they look sexy.
Gonna do my wheels next :) |
Just did my emblems, This stuff rocks!
Yup so its been awhile since i painted em and they are still holding up strong!! I made a new post where i got new side skirts and as you can see in those pics i still have them painted.
I haven't seen your other thread, and I'm kind of lazy, so I'll just say it in here, I think it looks nice. I was wondering how black wheels would look on blue(I'm a fan of white wheels myself), but she pulls it off nicely. ;)
