What up guys. I have been to lots of car shows this summer and I feel like my car just doesnt have that certain 'IT' factor that makes it stand out. Almost like its to clean. I would like some opinions On what you would do or think will make my car look or be better. My plans so far - is to get a new set of wheels --- enkei or volk -- and turbo in march. other than that What do you think?

youre just going to the wrong shows. theyre just after rice and garbage. dont change a thing. your 8 is so clean

I agree the car is very nice and I wouldn't change a thing. A turbo kit wouldn't hurt though.

 

I like it just how it is.
If you do too much more it will start looking ricey.

Agreed dont change you car,,, judges dont know **** when they judge.... All but one car show I went to this year especially didnt know squat about what the 8 is all about,,,,
Your car is clean and really nice, if you want tat show factor go get something you can "*****" out at a car show....

 

Not feeling the wheles, nor the rear sticker. Other than that it looks good.

 

omar you know ms is just too plain.....it might as well be stock in a judge's eyes...they want bling and wow....put on the abflug kit and rock 20s...watch the different reaction...you may hate it but they will love it......i know veilside is out there but they loved it...

 

a Varis hood would look nice. or the Seibon if you wanna cheap out like i did.

 

Shows in general are just junk.... As Chris said Judges look for Bling not quality.

Keep your car the way it is, you will get more respect amongst true enthusiasts. If you are into attracting ricer crowds, go ahead and put huge chrome spinners on it!

Save your money and put it into the Turbo. You got the looks already now just get the power.

I agree. Not worth ruining your car for a couple of trophies. Looks great the way it is. I prefer a concave face over a lip as far as wheels go, so that's the only thing I'd change, but you'd probably score more points from the judges for the lip anyway.

 

Am I the only person that feels like this thread is the forum equivalent of a gf baiting for compliments with an "I feel ugly today" comment?? ^-^

But on topic... new wheels (match the quality of the car / body kit) would be a good idea.

If you want something flashier lose the rear spoiler and rear decal and go with some kind of raised spoiler (mazdaspeed, autoexe (I think makes one)).

 

I cant believe nobody has mentioned for you to do an audio system. IMO car shows are judged by three categories: show, go and audio/video

The best part about the MS kit is the subtle nature of it. Because of that, you need to wow the crowd with other aspects to put it over the top. everyone has black wheels with a chrome lip so do something different like bronze (that would look sick on the silver). You also need to put some 'bump' in the trunk. a clean system with led's to match the interior would be a touch of finesse. Throw a lcd screen in the console and that will be done.

Major HP upgrades will always command attention. a turbo would draw attention, but a supercharger would be more unique.

think about all the other cars at the show that are taking home trophies, what do they have that you dont?

^^^^ thats where the problem with car show, lye, the judges arent really serious they're just looking for show,,, not go... I once described my suspension to a judge(jsut about everything you can do, over $5k in it) and the judge look at me like I was an alien and said,,,"is it over a two in drop?" I was shocked and after a few seconds to think about it I told him, "what? did you just here what I said? "

 

yeah, screw shows. unless it takes place at a race track.

 

Looks great except for the rims. Go with a nice concave look like Work Emotion CR-KAI in flat bronze 18x9.5 all around with 38 offset....

 

Dude, you gotta get some STREETGLOW lights, everyone knows that's the only REAL way to win a car show!

 

i agree with everyone in that your car is very clean and looks great. i dont think silver is that great of a color though; it doesn't really "pop" like other colors do, I think it has a tendency to blend in.

if you want to get noticed you have to do something less conservative than the MS body kit. get a turbo kit installed and dress up the rest of your engine bay. or get a wild looking custom sub enclosure to fill up your trunk.

or you could just install a 5' high wing, that will get you some attention!

 

damn y'all chill with the wheels.....they came of my show winning 8!!....but yeah o you cant have your cake and eat it too....you wanna look smooth but that dont win shows...that wins compliments and panty drops......the other thing is the quality of the shows you been going to.....these local shows are ricetastic....at a big show like englishtown or funk flex or hin your car will get more respect from judges

 

new rims, maybe new spoiler... other than that don't **** with a good thing man. Who cares if your car wins shows or not, whether or not YOU are happy with it is way more important than what the average moron at a ricer fest thinks.

 

you should get the ms spoiler, it will look better. and the only other thing you could possibly do to make it look better, is buy nicer, more expensive rims like hre, j-line, or veilside rims (staggered w/ a 10 or 10.5 in lip in the rear). But other than that, it looks perfect.

oh ya, that sticker on the back should definately go. and please dont do any crazy "show car" stuff to it, like a crazy paint scheme or any ricey looking mods, keep it clean!!!
