i think it is an MPS miata probably from the tokyo show last year. anybody have a clue as to what the extra air inlet in the nose is for? some kind of super charger?
i went to that site. there are also about 4 pics of the rx-8 from various angles. its definetly from the tokyo show.

It's the MPS Miata. It's not supercharged IIRC. I think it was powered by a 1.9L NA motor making 180hp. I'm not sure if it ever made it to production. The only thing that was certain was that it was not going to imported to the US.

Hasn't gone into production (yet). Wasn't supercharged. The cut-out was probably for looks or extra cooling.

Edit - forgot to mention it won't hit our shores due to emissions.

its the concept model of the Hardtop Miata the mazda could possibly release in '07 or '08 even more possible that its an updated Mazdaspeed Miata Hardtop

Actually, this coupe is not the same as the convertible (with detachable hardtop) that Stan003 was asking about.

Interesting to see how the fender flares of the NC were already being hinted at in the MPS.
