Went 2009 RX8 exploring at the NY Auto Show (DSL? still using that?)

I tried my best to take detailed pics with a "so-so" Olympus point and shoot my girlfriend had. Very crowded Saturday afternoon so it was quite hard to get good shots and not have 50 people get in the way at the same time . Long lines to get a seat in the car too .

I Gotta say though, it did look quite nice in person. It really does look much better in person than the photos released online. I Absolutely hated how the back look in the pictures but it did look classy in person.

The new 3 spoke steering wheel didn't bother me much other than the fact that it was upside down. Couldnt see the gauges though because they weren't lit. The R3 Recaro seats hold your upper torso in somewhat tightly. I'm 5'9" and ~ 155 lbs so it'd imagine that anyone over 6'0" and 200 lbs might have some trouble with the Recaros. The bolsters started to peal also.

I'm going to throw in the Speedsource demo car and the Furai pics too.

I was at a dealer today and they had those wheels on a 40th AE in the showroom.
Not a single person working there knew they were the 09 wheels.

The current 40th AE wheels are 18"? I think the 2009 RX8 R3 wheels are 19".

Nice detail shots...

Pet peave of mine with my own car: people using their dusty feet to push the door open, lol. Makes me want to wipe it down even at the car show.

Funny, I hate the new steering wheel. I'm not feeling the super straight lines.

The only thing I think is an improvement are the tail lights.

First positive comment I've seen on the steering wheel--everyone else seems to hate it.

For '09, the base model / auto RX-8 will have a new 17" wheel. The sport, touring and GT will have the same 18" wheels that are on the 40th anniversary model and the R3 will have the gunmetal 19" posted in the pics here.

I still don't really like the new 8 except for the seats in the R3 and the gauges. To me, the 8 out now is so much better looking.
