I am glad to hear no one got hurt..
People are far more precious than cars.

Hopefully everything works out in your favor :-)

So long as the the shop do the job right. That's the only part that scares me. The company that is doing the work is pretty reputable in CT. Just one of those OCD things.
I also deal with State Farm and when 2 guys hit me a few years back, they handled everything with no deductable. They just told me to take it to my choice of shop and have them submit a bill. Never did find out which driver covered my deductable, since I feel confident that they would want it from somewhere.

Just got off the phone with my agent. So the reason I have to pay the deductable is just because I dont want to wait for the entire claims process. We already know that the guy is at fault and that the police report states it, so getting the money back wont be an issue. But technically I could wait a week or couple days or whatever for the claims handlers to gather all the information and I wouldn't pay anything. My deductable isn't too bad so I dont mind paying it for now.

I also checked the state police and looks like they dont have any crash reports processed yet after 11/5 so that might also be taken into account.

well I got the car back today. they did a great job and the repaint of the bumper looks like it's brand new.

the only gripe I have is when I was driving home I noticed that my beam pattern was weird...

yesterday they had called me and told me they accidentally ordered the halogen lights and they only realized it when "the bulb didn't fit in the socket". anyway the adjuster told me that they ordered the hids and the car would be ready tomorrow.

well I took a deeper look and noticed that they installed the halogen housing!? not only that... but they jimmied the clip to make the bulb stay in place.

I'm trying to keep it cool right now because of all the other awesome work they did. hopefully when I call them tomorrow they can admit the mistake and fix it...else someones gunna get a talking to

I hate finding issues after a bodyshop claims they did repairs. It's the main reason why I no longer drive my car (the loss of interest, anyways). 2 years of shop time, getting it back, finding isses, bringing it back, etc. And we only have 6 months to drive up here!

Hopefully your bodyshop guys take credit where it's due and also admit to faults.

Good luck bud!

Thanks buddy;

They are a reputable shop which is why I am shocked.

Of course the adjuster that I have been working with is out until Monday, but I called this morning and spoke to someone who apologized and said he would have the guy call me on Monday. He took a look at the invoices and hes like "yea actually i do see the order for two headlights, I have no idea what happened here though since I didn't work on the car"

The kicker for me isn't the fact that they went ahead and installed the Halogen housing, but the fact that they jimmied the clip to make the bulb stay secure. I mean ... what if the bulb became loose .. laid against the housing, melted, fire, etc etc.

I took pics.

Either way, my co-workers are telling me that it has to get rectified one way or another. Either way, before the accident i had HIDs, therefore regardless of VIN or original package, or whatever, I need to leave the shop with HIDs

Understandable! At the end of the day, it's your car and you want it back the way you had it. Again, that was the issue I was having. The bodyshop kept cutting corners, and I called them out on it.

Good thing you noticed the issue when you did! Could have definitely cause more serious problems for you AND them!

Your shop is an approved shop for the insurance company so they shouldn't really put up any fight - the last thing they'd want is to be proved wrong and have a point against them with your insurance company. At least, this is what I'd imagine. I wouldn't be too worried - it may be a bit of hassle but at the end of the day, it will be sorted I'm sure.

Never had to go through this process before, didn't realize i had "a choice". i could either A. go with my own insurance (statefarm), pay deductable, get all the repairs done, then they go after the dudes insurance company (progressive) to get all the money back, or B. go to their insurance and have them just pay for everything.i figure that going with A. i can get the stuff done right because i feel like B. would try to do it as cheap as possible
Ah, I'm too late on this one but looks like you went this way regardless. For anyone else reading this thread who may be in a similar situation, here are my $.02:

Go with A. As long as he's at fault per police report, you will be fine. Basically, if you choose to go with A the work will begin immediately and when the body shop fronts the bill to your insurance, your insurance will pursue the other driver's insurance company. Should the other driver's insurance company not pay up or be expired, your insurance company will pursue the other driver's personal assets (assuming they're clearly at fault on the the police report).

If you chose B, there is a good chance the other insurance company will jerk you around and your car won't end up at a body shop for many, many weeks.
