Vid: Serious Suspension Compression
While testing at Nashville Motor Speedway and using the fast way off the highbank I learned that the car doesn't like this transition.

Pretty soft setup for the tire and tight track: 400F/350R, Spec World Challenge Tire: 235/17 Toyo 888. Koni 2812 shocks (now with a bigger bump stop), MS rear bar, SpeedSource front bar. We have gone to a softer setup to better suit the new tire (less grip tire). Previously the Grand-Am Spec 225/17 Hoosier with more grip allowed us to run a 100 lb higher spring rate and different (bigger) front bar.
Apparently the fast way through turn 1 requires the baja 1000 mega jolting transition. Good test. Learned something. To date we have never experienced anything this violent. Bigger bump stop to solve. Doubtful we will ever go back there (because the track visit there was purely a test and the closest track that was open/available to Indy). Perhaps a future event and/or a really violent curb to confirm all is well.
Interetingly enough we did not have shock pots installed to capture what the heck was actually goin' on.
More later in the suspension forum.

what's an rx-8 run at Nashville? I raced on my bike there last September. I guess you can see why everyone says get on the banking as late as possible and get off the banking as soon as possible. There's a lot of time to be made in T1, but I'd hate to crash there.

That's not the wheel bending, that's 'rolling shutter' caused by CMOS shutter technology in most camcorders both cheap and expensive. It sucks bigtime, is a bitch to get rid off, plus it trashes otherwise nice video footage totally.

No problem. this has been pissing me off for years now. I had the 1st Sony HD cam, used in car, no rolling shutter, perfect HD recording on track. Sold it to get a SD card Canon (1K)...firgured it would be better...turned out to be totally useless for in car video because of this. Bought a couple cheap cams ~$150, same problem. Finally went back to Sony cam again...but newer...bye bye rolling shutter. Very bizzare, very frustrating, very expensive lesson learned.
