Track day pics in new 8...

...just got these pics in the mail from my first track day last month (in the 8). I had just purchased the car 2 weeks prior to the lapping day.

Great to see a guy actually using his RX8 for what it was meant to do!!!!!!!! Now let's get that body roll in check.

Thanks.
I went back and edited the initial post and clarified that it was my 1st lapping day with this car in particular. Had lapped before in a Stage II WRX before as well as in open wheel Barber Dodge race cars.

As for the body roll- imperceivable from within the car. I'm really happy with the car's handling in stock form. All I've done to it is an alignment, pads and fluid. Plans for nothing else, as I've just come off a good 5 years of modifying cars and I'm happy to live with a stock car once again. Choosing this platform had lots to do with simplifying my life.

Great man, but you will not resist the mod gods!!! I have managed to keep mods in check on this car for the most part but everytime I track it I buy something afterwards.

Great thanks for sharing.

The only thing I would do is put sway bars on. Hugh differance.

Then when the rear shocks go replace with good ones.

Thanks all. I'm so happy with the performance as-is, I can only wonder what sways, springs and dampers would do. Sounds amazing. Just not in the cards for now.

Great pictures! I'm hoping to do a track day this year with my Shinka.

It helps to have a little (not a lot of) body roll to plant the outside tires in the turns (especially on a road course). Overall, I think the RX8 is good out of the box for amateur fun on the track.

May I ask why you had the back windows open? That would create drag I think.

I think it was a Carrera Turbo with the driver receiving instruction. Very fast, even with a novice driver in it.

I agree. Out of the box, a great car for the roadcourse.

As for back windows, fresh air is nice . Most everyone laps with their windows down. I let off around 115-120mph down the straights anyhow. No need to go faster- I'm just lapping recreationaly (yet as quick as I can and braking as deep as I can).
