The color looks very similar to mine (Stormy Blue Mica), available in the states for '07 models. RotaryNews has the color of the MS RX-8 as either 'Strut Blue Mica' or 'Strato Blue Mica' depending on the article you look at. Is there a difference other than a mangled name?

Strato Blue (sometimes seen as "strut," probably just bad translation) was a color that was available on all non-US RX-8's a few years back, including the limited Mazdaspeed version sold only in Japan. Strato Blue is a dark blue with hints of purple. Stormy Blue is similar, but not as purple. Definitely a different color. The one in the picture here looks like Stormy Blue. Besides, that color is currently in production and Strato isn't.

I wouldn't be suprised if they are just coated like that for show and are actually the same. The lighting and reflections could be making them appear to look different. No 13B rotor looks like that. Not even clean.

I'm just excited to see a japanese stock car that can go faster than a 911 but only half the price of Porche.
Sure wouldn't be the first time a japanese car would trump a 911. In the 70's, 80's, and early 90's the Nissan Z has always made the Barvarian boys sweat. Now its the GT-R's turn to flat out embaress them and go send them back to the drawing board once again.

I could be wrong as I never saw the Strato Blue in person but my impression was more of a straight darker blue that it didn't have as much of a multi-color shift to it as the Stormy Mica (which is the second best color on the 8 IMO )

Anyone here see an early 8 in the Stormy Blue in person that can verify my suspissions?
