It occurs to me that Titanium works particularly well on this car because of the various bits of silver detailing like the rear lights etc. They merge into the car rather than blatantly standing out like they do with other colours (except silver but that's too light). I'm extremely relieved that I switched from blue to Tit before it was too late... I found some very nice hi-res Titanium images on the other RX-8 forum that we all visited for a day and then never returned to. If you look in the gallery there are some good ones. I haven't the URL because I'm not at home.

Those are awesome pics, can't wait now man, come on JUNE!

Anyway, how's the tan inserts? That's my only concern I'm still contemplating leather or cloth, I kind of want leather for the luxurious feel it gives and finishes off the interior nicely to wow others. Is the Tan tacky though?

Every picture I see is different from orange to dark brown

wowza! what I dont get is why all these 8s we've been seeing are of the leather GT action, yet have no moonroof. The RX-8 build site wont let you get T or GT without a moonroof.

I would want mine without the moonroof but it seems to be standard.. hmmmmmm

because the pre-production ones are not built to the spec of any one country. in some the moon roof is an extra option, just like the nav in this country.

I see.. so future owners of the T or GT models, will get one whether they want it or not, yes?

I have only seen that older red 8 picture with the moonroof slid back.. is that the final deal on how it will be?

Does the paint have a blueish tint. I've read in other posts that it has a blueish tint too it.

No I didn't think so when I saw it. Alot of previous pictures show some purplish highlight which could be an result of the indoor lighting, else if it's there, its very subtle. I thought the gray was almost identical to the SE/Shinsen Miata Titanium, except it's very metallic, catches the light really well, not nearly as dark as I expected. For comparison, the Miata next to it is very close to Sunlight Silver according to the Mazda rep, the Mazda 6 behind the RX is white.

Anyway, how's the tan inserts? That's my only concern I'm still contemplating leather or cloth, I kind of want leather for the luxurious feel it gives and finishes off the interior nicely to wow others. Is the Tan tacky though?
The brown leather is pretty close to what it looks like the picture, it IS almost an orange, not the tan you would expect (not like the tan interior of a Vanquish). I think the two-tone black/gray leather seats of the X-Car would have been a better option. I stuck with black leather in my order, you can't go wrong with that. The production leather will be smooth, not ribbed. Front seats seem plusher than most RX-7s I've been in, still supportive though.

Hope the front bumber/bonnet(hood) dont look different colours in reality...
I never noticed the shade discrepancy between the hood and the nose until I moved the pics off the camera. Hopefully the match will be better, but I know this is problem with some 350Z's also.

A few other things I noticed:

There isn't any stopper or impact plate if the rear doors are shut on top of the front door (check out IMG_0248.jpg in the full gallery, link here ). Couple closures like that and you'll have nasty a groove on the interior of the rear door. I guess everyone will have to make sure their passengers understand how the doors need to be shut. Getting in the rear is easy, the front seat belt slides out of the way along a rod in the floor (IMG_0247.jpg), nicely designed. The red car had it's seat all the back back and tilted quite a bit too and it was still pretty easy for a average-sized person to climb back there.

The handbrake handle sticks up quite a bit even in the down position. Shouldn't be a problem for us left-side drivers, but I'm surprised to find the Japanese cars leave the handle in the same position. Might not be a problem once the shifter **** is in place though, can't really gauge the position from the threaded rod. Rep said 6 parts were stolen from SF last week, they first replaced the *****, then gave up. Buncha thieves!

For those who ordered the automatic, the action/feel of the wheel paddles is really nice, they are solid aluminum too.

The build quality of these cars seemed much better than the red prototype at the LA Autoshow. No more hollow sounding hard plastic, flimsy door handles, etc. I am feeling much happier about all this now :D

As for delivery schedule, the guy I spoke to believes everything is on schedule for a June delivery of the first batch. He thinks a few production units will be coming in this month, but these will not be customer cars, possibly show demos, but more likely for testing. The media blitz should begin by mid-May.

Finally, I like the comment from the Mazda guy, that if you like it now, just wait till you drive it. Yeah, June can't come fast enough!
