teaching the gf to drive a stick

So Ive taught many people to drive a stick on my car most of the time Ive never had a problem. So I tried to teach the gf.

First attempt.... results, a drag launch, most people ive taught stalled the car . Reenactment:,me: so give it a little gas gas while u come off the clutch, her: she revs it to 7k me: wait to many rpms (shes at 7k!) she slips the clutch.... never had the car shoot from a stop that fast .

we didnt continue

seems image shack stop showing my image here its her burn out marks ^_^

lol lol honestly i tried that in my camaro just this morning and she hit the dam limiter before releasing the clutch ... with the power of the v8 she left some serious rubber on the road ... my new tires too!

I taught my wife to drive a stick in our RX-8. I consider it a major accomplishment since she vowed never to learn after her first lesson back in college. She got pulled over because she was swerving during shifting and the cop thought she was drunk!

hopefully this'll help, if you haven't already done it :)

have her find the friction point of the clutch. once she finds it, tell her not to release the clutch any further and to keep it at the friction point, and then have her give it a little gas and go from there

This sounds so funny to me.
The only way to get a driving license here is by driving a manual trasmission car so i really can't see how and why this should be difficult :D
Even my granny drives a stick and she got her license way back with non synchronized gearboxes!
It is strange how much things change from one continent to another!

yes, it is silly. us north americans are such a lazy bunch. I will never own anything but manual cars until i physically cant drive one anymore, but it seems the vast majority from my generation have no clue and dont care to learn. Its sad really.

to the OP, thats hilarious man. I tried to teach my ex a few times. the first time was the best. it was my first car that i couldnt bare to sell so it was a field car at her parents house now. anyways, the clutch was soaked in oil so it was slipping like crazy (hence it being a field car). So i said "i dont think you could stall it if you tried". next thing you know its stalled. haha.

I could never teach my wife to drive a stick-shift until I bought the first 8. Not even 12 hours after buying the damn car she is bugging me to teach her.
I question to why she never wanted to learn before was answered as "I don't want to learn in some piece of **** car! I want to learn in a nice car"!
I like to fell out at this statement, seeing that my piece of **** was a 84 rx7 gsl, then a 89 rx7 gtu.
Girls, they are strange!!
