IMO All those guys (and a few others) really set the standard for what it is today. I was never into vert (a lot of it cause I sucked at it!) but did a lot of street skating. In the mid 80's we started doing ramp style tricks on the street before it caught on. We would skate everywhere and on anything.

don't foget Rob Roskoff sp? as a skater from the 80's. was always one of my favorites too. of course all of that was back when the wheels were big and the boards only had one tail.

I met and/or skated with every single person on that list, including Jason Lee and Mike Vallely as well, we drove Sergie Ventura around town and took him to our fave spots one time as well, he was hooking up with one of our skate betty friends so we totally took advantage of it. aw man those were good times, it was great to see Hosoi pull himself out of the gutter and make a life for himself, I was just watching "Rising son" the other day (geez I've watched a lot of vids lately, remember video days?) and reminiscing, one of my faves if not my all time fave skater would have to be Mark Gonzales, I just love his style and creativity, and he was always busting incredibly difficult moves that he made look retarded easy.

edit: can't forget Natas either, streets of fire was the ****!
