Sunday Mornin' Canyon Cruise (pic's and vid)
Well, I was talking about it for about a good week and a half but I finally got to do it.
Background story: I used to love driving aimlessly at night in my car when I was a kid. I traveled hundreds of miles at a time on some ventures just to watch the sunset in a place i've never been before. One occation was the day I ventured out with a lady friend and found a highway called "Rim of the World" aka Highway 18. I remembered it vividly - every turn was beautiful. I couldn't remember a happier time back then. . .
Flash forward, I have a new car (my 8) and I almost had no recollection of this place til i stumbled upon it on www.lateralg.com(great site, i know some members visit there every so often, one's a mod IIRC, lionzoo?) . It's been about 10 years since i was last there. I was extremely eager but afraid of being let down. I was afraid that my memories exhaggerated the truth. I logged onto www.lateralg.com and mapped out my trip...
Here it is:
I packed up my ish and hit the road and see if these memories were real or just exhaggerated.
Here's a quick vid that i threw together. I doubled the speed in case you were like "holy ****! you were hauling ***!!" lol - i was actually only going at a moderate pace.....................i swear

^Be sure to watch in HQ
Here's the pic's (Raw and unaltered)
In conclusion: I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. . .every turn was just as I remembered. I arrived a little later than I wanted to so I did run into some light traffic but it still didn't take away from the whole experience. I had a lot of fun up there. I understand there's plenty of other canyons in socal, and plenty are probably more fun - but this one was just right IMO.
Honestly, this experience has really reawakened the reason why i love this car. It was like i put my car back in its natural habitat - we all know our car's aren't quarter mile, econobox daily drivers....we're trackers, autox'ers and canyon carvers...and this little venture just proved it to me

seriously tho, that exact one pic is bad *** (no homo) reminds me of me, being alone, growing up and showing what i have, looks like ur thinking of life out in nature with the car in its perfect habit, it seems like all is one...human in its natural habit, the car in its natural habit, IMO very artistic

nice pics and definitely a sweet road.
and the feeling of being free is totally understandable. the 8 is usually my only escape. or a nice and high building rooftop in the middle of the night.

Renesis: definitely! I've been to mt. baldy - haven't been in a while but i have a feeling i'll be hitting up more canyons in the near future
No0dle: Thanks! Honestly, I used to do the same in parking structures - if you ever get a chance to hit up a decent canyon road - I would highly suggest it. Iono, there's just something about it
topgear: Thanks!
