Strut bar painted by your's truely!

Hey guys i recently got a basically new greddy strut bar from armin, a member on this forum.

But there was only one problem...the end links were blue! and that doesn't match red. so i took matters into my own hands

Armin and i chilled at his house for a few hours and got it done.

what i did was use 2 cloats of krylon grey primer.
3-4 coats of "sparkles" red paint (found at checker auto parts) then 2-3 coats of clear coat. I think it turned out really nice, and it matches VR pretty closely. enjoy!

Sexy! Did it take a few hours? It only seemed like it took an hour/hour a half at the most.. Any case, it looks real good! BTW, where is your battery cover?

armin, the battery cover is actually in the trunk from the fiasco i had yesterday at the dealership.

fahrfegneugen, i have never tracked my car...so i've never really taken it to the limits. i also don't have a rear strut bar installed so no i have not felt ANY kind of difference. it is just pretty to look at

I agree, I was thinkin about it, and it is much better to look at. pretty awesome!

I forget, but is the stock one welded on? Was it hard to get off?

The stock bar is held on by a bracket; 2 bolts and it's off, then remove the bracket with three bolts.

Looks good man!

Looks gooD! you dont need to take a car to the track to feel suspension differences. in the case of a strut bar, you wont really notice it anyways.

Good move! We painted both our front & rear greddy end links. I think here soon I will then be getting the bars themselves painted black. NICE PICTURES!

Good choice and nicely finished. Bronze/gold would have look good as well.

nope, i did no sanding. Just do a good job of priming it. And before you install it i would wait a few hours after completely painting so the spray paint hardens. when armin and I put it back on the car, the wrench accidentally scratched off some of the paint (i think the paint was still somewhat damp under the first layer) I simply touched it up with some paint on my finger. I think if i had waited a few hours before installing it...the paint would have been strong enough to withstand a few hits.

altspace! you're right that does look awesome. Where did you get your CF covers? and how much did they cost?
