Boy, those cloth seats look CHEAP!!!

If those are the "black" cloth seats (they look awfully grey to me), I'm gonna have to get some after-market upholstery done!

They look generic to me... nothing special but nothing terrible.

Granted though, we haven't had a cloth car in our house for a long time

i sent an email to mazdausa asking for clarification on these seats a while ago. they assured me that the cloth seats would be black not this grey that we have seen in the pre-production units. we have not seen yet the production cloth.

Whew! Good answer! I'm feeling better already! This is about the only thing I'm concerned about (nit-picking, I know).

Very nice photography, thanks MattFast for posting these. Makes me want to take a drive up to Monterey right now. Definitely come July, or whenever delivery of the car is.

This is the first time I've seen seats that don't have the solid plastic back. I hope this is only the case for cloth/manual seats (or maybe these are non-production designs entirely). I like the solid plastic back, made the seats look thinner, like a racing shell.

What are those controls on the console behind the shifter? Is that for the NAV system?

I think this is the regular Velocity Red Mica - it's just that the sky is overcast in every single picture here. Under bright sunlight the color 'changes' as per video and photos in Car & Driver review.
