We need to get the rest of the video from Dan and the photos from Lewin!
You's lookin pretty good but you still can't touch my sweet 85 opposite-lock drifting skillz.

There were 7 runs, and IIRC, I caught him once or twice round the corners. After that, I never saw him again.
Yea, that S4 was definitely commuting.
DO attend an event. It's crazy fun!

Great vids. I'm actually going to be out there for the KYPCA HPDE this upcoming weekend. This will be my second one...and it's already a very addicing, and VERY expensive hobby!
Turn 7/8/9/10 have to be the best turns of that course IMO.

The last four corners are definitely epic! Out of turn 8 you actually roll into Times Square (that bit with huge bends about. When we were out there, it was closed, but we rolled into it anyway). Out of turn 9 into turn 10, you're part way into the pits.
Definitely an eye opening event. Now I see extra "track" to roll on everywhere I go on the streets!

It's October 25/26th -- here's the registration link: http://kypca.org/info/de.pca
The registration may be closed already....but call that Jeremy guy as some may have bailed out already. They usually do.
I've been good....been busy as hell with work though. You in Indiana? If you can -- try to make the event. If not, come out and say hello anyways.

Ha, then the vids will prolly help.

Watching your vids make me jealous...the one thing I can't do that would save me precious seconds off my time is heel/toe. I have to rev match instead prior to going into turn 2. It would be nice to be able to go down into second on turn 7 as well....I always got my as kicked coming off that corner.
Needless to say, I believe next hear I will sign up for NASA to get more involved, and hopefully learn heal/toe soon

You said it. My instructor said the farther I slide out in 8 the better. The feeling of the car automatically sliding out to where you want it to is just epic. I went and purchased a midpipe and some new rubber for this weekend. The stock tires literally melted last event.

It's better to stay in 3rd, and step on the throttle harder as you hit the apex (hence why you don't see me downshifting).
You're not going to go full throttle at the apex anyway if you were in second, so in 3rd, you give it extra beans. You should be around 4000~5000rpm in 3rd round 7, so you're already in the powerband.
Try it both ways though, and see what you're most comfortable with.
Flying into corner 1, however, you need to heel-toe to shorten your braking distance (otherwise you're wasting time rev-matching and hence need to extend your braking distance to compensate). I generally start braking at the first brake marker, and I wasn't even braking hard. If I had more *****, I prolly could've done it at the second marker.
EDIT: Second video didn't upload fully..., will change it out.

Great info....it's nice to talk to someone that drives the same car as you to get pointers. Eric Meyer from Meyer Motorsports is going to be there at the event, so I'm trying to get him as my instructor. It'll be nice to see his race ready 8's there too. I asked for a ride around the track, but they are only one seaters
Goal for next year....learn heal/toe. I've tried it a few times, but it just felt really awkward. Maybe my feet are too damn big.

If your feet are actually HUGE, you can try toe-toeing. Big toe on brakes, little toe on gas. I was taught by one of the very best drivers I've ever met to do this on the streets. Should work on the track too with enough practice.

Well, first thing you should prolly check is if your shoes are making your feet huge. If they are, get some smaller shoes that fit perfectly (I wore size 10 sneakers at this event. Came back, bought a pair of Piloti DTMs in size 8.5, and heel-toe is actually easier now. My actual feel size is 8.5).
