Smooshed :(

Husband's 8 got backed into. He was parked on the curb outside our apartment, and a lady was pulling out of her driveway and apparently didnt see the car at all and ran right into it.

She mustve been going pretty fast for it to be crushed so bad. Bleh.. thank God for insurance.

yes, its horribly dirty.. disregard lol

That sucks! Is the rear quarter panel damaged too, or just the door (can't quite tell from the pics). If it's just the door it shouldn't be too much trouble to swap.

Nopstnz8 11-13-2010 10:22 PM

Yeah it does look like just the door. If so, I wonder how she managed to miss the quarter panel?

meganm_1989 11-13-2010 10:26 PM

Its just the rear door, Im not sure how she missed the quarter panel, She was in a freakin suburban (which btw had only a tiny dent in the bumper).

It did however knock his rear bumper loose a little in the impact and there is a very small 'wave' in the front door.

rodjonathan 11-14-2010 01:42 AM

that sucks

wankelbolt 11-14-2010 07:51 AM

Let me guess, she was driving an SUV?

That door is aluminum, so it's a bit softer than the front door or quarter panels...

Grog 11-14-2010 09:12 AM

Aside from the mandatory "That sucks", I just want to say that the orange OEM wheels seem like they look pretty good on BB.

Pico 11-14-2010 09:24 AM

That doesn't look to bad, and fixing it should be pretty simple.
The hardest thing I see doing is blending the paint into the three panels. And this is pretty standard

paimon.soror 11-14-2010 09:56 AM

At least it wasn't a hit an run type of situation. Assuming from your mention of insurance i take it the lady's insurance is going to cover it?

What gave it away? The fact that she said it was a suburban? LOL

I was about to post that.

Her insurance will cover that. Can't be more at fault than backing into a parked vehicle.

fuztupnz 11-15-2010 10:04 AM

That's a whole lot of Suck! Sorry to see Megan

AK-X8 11-16-2010 12:56 AM

Lol Wheres Waldo up in this bitch.

2tone 11-16-2010 08:33 AM

that sucks! really not that bad though...it could have been way worse. and if it was a suburban, i'd say she was going no more than idle/parking lot speed. it doesn't take much in a car that big.

HiFlite999 11-16-2010 09:17 AM

Dunno if that door will be fixable. Also, it's possible the mounting points for the door hinges got moved - hopefully without moving the C-pillar at the same time. Did the car get shoves sideways into the curb? If so, there may be suspension issues as well.

lepichichi 11-16-2010 10:19 AM

ouch

meganm_1989 11-16-2010 12:38 PM

door isnt fixable.. we will be getting a new one. The 'orange' wheels were supposed to be a dark bronze, but arent (I give him shit about them all the time).

The BB 8 under the car port is mine, the silver one is our friends and the Nordic Green one (with the dent) Is my husbands.

rodjonathan 11-16-2010 12:41 PM

you and the hubby drive 8's!!! youll need to get some pics up together ... after its fixed

K so, heres whats going on now. Kind of wandering if anyone has been in this sort of situation.

The insurance called me today to set up an appointment for the adjuster to assess the car, if we had it towed in, it would be done immediately, if we drove it in, they wouldnt get to it for another 2 weeks.

Due to the car being low, the towing company had us sign a damage waiver (geico said in this situation, that if damages were to occur Geico would cover it). We get to the shop to sign paperwork, and lo and behold the front bumper is F*CKED! Now we had to make a whole new claim for the new damage, and we are praying Geico will cover it like they said. Has anyone had problems like this?

oh that sucks. a local near me had AAA drop his car and messed up the rear bumper. I do not remember if he signed a waiver but AAA replaced his rear and paid 100%. This is the one thing that i dread with having a lowered car. Most of it is the towing companies dont give 2 shits and by signing a waiver they care even less.

the only issue i see is it being a aftermarket bumper. on another vehicle i had rims get damaged and they would not replace because i did not add them to my policy or have reciepts on hand. what i did talk them into doing is paying out the cost of oem replacements (in your case bumper and body shop cost). Hope this helps
