Saying Goodbye to my 8. Photo Shoot with the Replacement.

Saying Goodbye to my 8. Photo Shoot with the Replacement.
On June 20th 2007, I proudly drove home my brilliant black RX-8 for the first time. Over four years, 15,000 miles, and 2200 photos later, I've finally decided to let her go. This decision was by no means an easy one to come to, but seeing as I need the space and practicality of a 4 door, it is with great reluctance that I step away from the 8 and move on.
I've driven many high performance road cars in my lifetime and have had seat time in just about everything from the GTR to the Ferrari Enzo, yet (despite being utterly outclassed) the nimble and charismatic RX still continues to impress and amaze me. On paper, the 8 almost always loses the stat sheet battle. Most modern sports cars are able to out accelerate, out grip and overpower the little RX, and yet its still the one I'd choose to chase down a narrow b-road, the one that will consistently plaster the biggest smile on my face. For that reason alone, I will miss it greatly.
As a tribute, I drove the 8 for the last time and brought it together with my new M5 for a little photo shoot. The M5 may be taking the 8's place in my garage, but I'll never forget just how much fun the little rotary was to drive.
Posted below are just some of the many photos and videos I've taken/composed over the years. RX-8 club has been an awesome community, thanks for all the support guys!

Those videos are nice!
15K miles in four years...you barely drove that car, LOL! If you gave it as a trade-in a lucky person soon will end up with a very nice RX-8 with such low miles!
The M5s are awesome. If I went with a BMW, and if I could afford it, that's the one I would buy

sad to see you leave aespo
very well versed farewell. I realize that the way certain things are phrased n' put together are overlooked but coupled with the "invitation" video...it pretty much made me wanna buy another rx8.
Congrats on the m5.
Btw, what video program did you use to create those vids??

The M5 has been amazing so far, the simple fact that it can out pace the original Gallardo in stock trim has me giggling just thinking about it. And like the rotary, the V10 sings a very distinctive song.

aespo22, nice move very fortunate you are, enjoy. I pick up my 02 M5 Fri. I'll have both of them in garage and end up on the M5 boards over the weekend. You should do a tribute video for the 8. Your vids have been some of the best if not!

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
Is the replacement the car or the girl? lol
Anyway, i noticed a beamer trend going on about the replacement, but if it's me, it will be a Japanese car again...a Mitsubishi Evo, after 2 more years of paying the rx8.

Truthfully, I'm not a huge Japanese car fan. After owning an Audi S4 and with a Porsche 911 in the family, I found that European build/material quality started to matter more to me. I loved the RX8 because everything about it was unique, the rotary sold me, but I probably won't turn to Japan for my next car...unless they finally come out with the RX-8 successor!
