All I could think of is the amount of salt kicking up into the car and the rust that will occur.

Me too Josh. I guess that comes from seeing too many salty-road New England winters.

Are some of you guys telling me you would think twice before hitting the salt flats because you're concerned about corrosion and messing up pretty wheels? You're crazy! I'm guessing you guys would also complain about the lousy mileage the 8 gets when drifting! LOL

That video looked like crazy fun. I'd love to do a wide high speed drift without being concerned about cops, tree, curbs, and people.

It's loads of fun for sure. This was my first time with the 8 in snow. Much easier to clean.

I have Volks and I'd gladly scar them in the salt flats just as a reminder of where I've been.

Snow is nice but it's hard to get up to speed (low speed looks weak) and the traction is so unpredictible (I admit that this is an exciting part)! I just want to rip along at 60mph and turn the car sideways in a huge flurry of salt!

I didn't even know you could just drive onto the flats and drive... Why aren't there more gear heads congregating for fun?

why not simply rent a rx?

RX8 rental = $100
Full tank of gass = $50
Returning a salt covered car in the middle of summer = Priceless
