You have as much right to take a nice car and make it look as trashy as possible as we do to call you a moron and ridicule you for doing so.

As well as I have the 'right' to wish you would keep it to yourself.

I dig it. Different is good. Normal is boring.

Different is just different. There are many bad examples all over this forum and the internet. Well executed mods is what separates a car.

I'm not a fan of the illest sticker, or the whole stance movement, but the car looks good.

Why does anyone care that he's not running the factory 19's?

They're not magical, they're not light (they are for their size, but not overall), and they're not the greatest wheel ever made. If I had an r3, i'd probably ditch them. Maybe i'd run them for daily wheels, but i could get lighter and wider wheels for the price i could sell them for. 17's and 18's are much cheaper to put tires on as well.

OP, nice car man.

I finally have an idea of what an R3 looks like without the wing...I'm debating on keeping my stock Touring bumper and going with a Knight Sports lip, or just buying an R3 bumper that comes painted SBM....now I'm really torn. I might go for an R3 bumper, since it's nearly (painfully) about the same price as the Knight Sports lip, especially factoring in painting.

I don't really dig the style of the XXRs, personally....Varrstoen TE reps would look a bit meaner; a la this one on real TEs:

But it's your ride, and it looks like it's evolving well. The new wheels look a lot more classy than the XXRs. Have you kept a square setup the whole time? It's hard to tell. Any further plans body-wise?

Or one could not put cheap knockoff wheels on one's top of the line RX-8 (R3)

Just a thought

Before you ask, no, I don't know why it bothers me; it's not like people haven't been making nice cars look horrible for decades

You should have seen my R3 when I first saw it. It was covered in stickers with an actual red DRAGON flowing on both sides a la F&F. It even had a sticker covering the Mazda logo on the horn/steering wheel, and stickers on the center console.

The first order of the negotiation for buying it was that they get all that junk off with no trace whatsoever, or no deal.

Yes, I agree, and not only on the R3, but any RX-8 for performance reasons. However, the OP obviously doesn't care about buying knockoffs vs high end wheels, and probably doesn't care to spend that much money on them. So, therefore, I referenced the Varrstoens, as opposed to just saying TE37s. Same price range, a worlds better looking (IMO) wheel. I know what you mean...I personally didn't care about knockoffs on my old car, since it was a dirt cheap car...but with my 8, I'm prepared to spend more money on a solid set of wheels and high end tires. Horses for courses, I guess...you'll always have those that are willing to save for something better vs those that aren't.

Because anytime you have a chance to go from 19-20lb forged BBS wheels to 30lb random knockoffs, you obviously do it
