Rx8 Project. Nothing like you've ever seen.. and too much spare time.. lol

Well I've been working on this project for a long time. I think i'm finally finished with it. took me around 6 months. with a TON of fabrications. before that. I had never fabricated a thing before. So, I read up alot on mp3car how people did it. I knew what I wanted to do. just.. not how to do it.

The only problem I had to deal with is all the glowing the inside does at night and people stairing in.. asking me.. hey, what type of system is that.. lol

first I started with the center dash carputer, running roadrunner and a heavily modified freedom ultimate skin.

this center dash peice folds down when needed.

the carpc has Horm activated so it take about 10 seconds to boot up. using a laptop I removed the battery. so It's a clean bootup every time. Unfortunatly. since that is the case. it thinks that it's been online since the snapshot. hense my runtime being 300 hours

well anyways, back to fabrication..
I then decided to modify a pillar pod with an LCD. and air/fuel/voltage combo gauge and boost gauge.

when the music is off, it displays system stats.

when the music is on it display winamp stats.
and when I click on winamp visualization. it puts a nice little equalizer at the bottom of the lcd which looks sick at night.

.. a few weeks later.. I felt the urge to make somthing else..

so I decided to fabricate a reverse cam into my top tray..

of course It had to be hidable..

and my phone to stream internet radio or google earth. or anything else for that matter..

I think it's finished..

Yes, the carbra is coming off this summer before anyone tells me.. lol

tell me what you think. or if you have any more ideas

-Marc

Entire front end is carbon fiber (bumper, hood, and fenders) Hense the carbra for winter. veilside sideskirts, and tailkit. Need RIMS! lol. also need summer to hurry up so I can take off bra, repaint car (looking for black with blue pearl) and since the front end is grey carbon fiber, I picked up some black carbon fiber vinyl. going to 2 tone it (carbon fiber 2 tone).. will look sick with done.

I was going to motorize the carputer. but. it just ended up being too much work. so I just made it swivel. I had planned on using a cd-rom drive eject mechinism as the screen lift. but, I'll save that for summer after i'm done with the rest. Damn new england winters!

Very nice job! Which Lilliput are you using? Is it transreflective? How's the readibility during the day?

Yes, that's the xv6700, probibly the best phone IMO for modding. I can use the thing as a wifi hotspot if I want.. the xv6800 is out, but not as moddable.
