RX8 & EVO
RX8 & EVO
Went for a cruise up my favorite mountain road with some company this time:
my old car didn't come up:

On the way down the EVO took a little detour and got down and dirty rally style in a recently cleared canefield. :D The only problem was that I went a different route and didn't get a chance to get any pictures of the fun.

I completely agree about the decals. What he should have done is thrown the money into getting a set of MR or Evo 7 tails to get rid of the bling bling Altezzas the car comes with. As a former Evo (well two of them actually), I think your RX8 looks much hotter - just don't try to race the Evo. :D
The Evo is actually the only one on the island as far as I know. I rode up in it one time and I was really impressed how it just stuck to the road in the turns. The stock Recaros are really nice too. (I'm a big fan of Evos, but it didn't quite fit into my new car criteria.) Hopefully next time we can get some video footage too. The C5 rims are actually just stocks painted black. It looks pretty evil like that. It also has a wicked sounding exhaust.

I tried to rent a fast car when I was in Kauai last May on my honeymoon because I knew there were tons of twisty roads like that...but they only had a Cavalier. It barely made it up steep hills. Awesome pics though. If I could bring my white Evo out there it'd be covered in red clay from all the driving I would do.
Do you ever see a red SRT-4 on the island? I saw one in the McDonalds parking lot down in Kapaa and talked to the owner for a few minutes. He said he's seen a million Neon rentals but never another SRT-4 on Kauai.

Amazing pics! I like the picture taken from above some how... were you on a hill? That looks like a NICE road there... it's got some turns in it, and looks quite empty. We have nothing like that here in Miami
jgoldstein2000: yup, "Waimea Canyon Drive" is the official name of the road
Steiner: I think I may have seen the Srt-4 before, I can't recall seeing many of those either. Most guys around here are still into their hondas and stuff. If you do want to rent a fast car (and you have a lot of cash) there is a place in Kapaa where you can rent a Viper. Well, I think you still can rent it, I know someone crashed it once. I think they might have a C5 also. Otherwise, the closest you can get is a yellow convertible v6 mustang.
One important tip to anyone who happens to visit Kauai and go up this road: if you want to see the view, PULL OFF THE ROAD at a designated lookout area. Theres too many cars that stop in the middle of the road in very dangerous places.
As far as the stickers on the Evo, well, its whats underneath them that counts.
