lol that was from the Mazda Rev-It-Up event in Washington DC (FedEx Field).
I saw it in person, it was really cool until the little accident at the end. It was driven by a pro drift driver.
but don't worry, since it's a drift demo car, somebody should have the bumper back on in no time!

obviously he doesn't care about damaging his bumper... seems like a very experienced drifter too. the thing is people, drifting is just like other motorsports... there's no point in doing it, people just do it. who the hell really cares about which car is faster in going a quarter mile, or who can turn left faster around a track? truth is it really don't matter ****. same with drifting, it's impractical and doesn't make sense, but then again... a lot of things don't... like a lot of other motorsports.

drifting has often been compared to the 'pro wrestling' of motorsports. i can see why people say such things, the judging seems like it is mildy subjective rather than based upon solid lap times or quarter mile E.T.'s
however drifting is WAY more exciting than drag races and thats why its becoming so popular. these are the words of daijiro from pacific rim racing. he was in d1 competition driving a silver s13. i agree with him. drifting is alot more than a competition. its more like a showcase where the fans are the focal point of event.
the guy drifting the 8 was not an idiot at all.....he looks like hes pretty experienced at drifting, it is kinda hard to keep the 8 sideways with stock suspension.
my last 2 cents.....drifting = break stuff. equation doesn't get much simpler than that. if you are gonna slide then your gonna lose a rear bumper or two.

I liked the part when that guy waves his hand to the people with the door open! Must be hard to do! Maybe that's the reason he crushed :D Showing off a lot wasn't he?

I witnessed this in person, also.
I thought it was awesome.
Obviously, banging up the car happens on Mazda's tab, so who cares. Its just fun with toys.
If I could afford the consequences, I'd probably be doing that everyday (were I to develope the requisite skill which that guy had).:p

Stuck in a love triangle
This drifting video lookshilarious and somewhat entertaining but not something I would dare do to my tires or my car. Reminds meof the old video I made whenI drove around a neighborhood w/the rear suicide doors open on my Rx8. Wind had no effect on thedoors at all until I got to turning.
