RX-9 and some other ideas...

He refers to the rear doors... the Saturn coupe has them too, and had them earlier. So from that point of view, the design of the RX-8 is similar.
I don't think that would be any basis for leagel trouble though because these type of doors have been around for a very long time.

Why is there such a push for another "RX-7"? The RX-8 is a perfectly zippy unique sports car that happens to have the capability to carry four adults. I have had more than one passenger proclaim that the RX-8 makes a coupe obsolete.
Does Mazda need to produce a two-seater? Anyone who really wants a successor to the RX-7 is going to buy an RX-8. A two-seat version has significantly less appeal and marketability. I managed to convince the household that the RX-8 is a family car. haha
I would rather see Mazda focus their efforts on a forced induction RX-8. Better yet, how about a Renesis 3 rotor? I'd be perfectly happy taking the guys out to lunch in a reliable/street legal 400HP RX-8.
Base price of this "high-output" RX-8 needs to be around $35k. It must be priced within reason for the existing RX-8 buyer. I would see about $38-40k for this car out the door. Outwardly, it would look like a MAZDASpeed RX-8 and come with 19" rims from the factory. Minimal badging (like a 3 rotor logo) would distinguish it from the run of the mill 8. Offer a SEVEN speed sequential transmission as an option that could push it over $40k.
You're going to need SEVEN speeds to get some reasonable gas mileage. haha. The sequential version of the car should have better stated gas mileage to convince a spouse that a $4000 transmission option will pay for itself.
Now that I am all worked up over the "Super 8", permit me get back to point. Mazda should leave the legendary RX-7 untarnished. If there is a sufficient market for a $45k Japanese two-seat car -- go ahead and build an RX-9. I would rather see my "super" RX-8.

Personally, I think the RX-9 studies kick serious ***. Mazda should really consider using something like this for a two-door version of the RX-8

RXR8TED, they don't actually make the RX9, that was just some concept some one drew of it. And mazda probably doesn't plan to make an Rx9 for some years to come. Although, that Gt version looks pretty cool!!!!

Sry bout the second post, i too would love to see an updated version of the Rx7 come out. I love the Rx 8 , but i would like to have a little bit more power, hopefully, if the rumor is true, they'll unveil the Rx7 next year or something. But man, the Rx8 is a really nice car, just wish mazda would have put a little bit more power into it .
