RX-8 Video, interesting observation...

I was just looking through my video's of the RX-8 and I noticed somthing interesting.

Somone mentioned that the yellow RX-8 on the show stands has no engine... yet the one in this video is driving on a track... infact they cleverly concealed a bit of opposite lock I think by slowing down the playback "bullet time" style..

Either way, there is an extended overhead shot, and it shows no yellow instrument binicle, even though you can see other stuff in the front of the vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, the resolution isn't good, but I can't see how you could miss the bright yellow instrument binicle...

This is the Mazda video, from their site... I can't find the link at the moment, but I'm sure somone else will, or I'll post it on my FTP server.

Ah, this european site is in another evil format... but I've put it on my FTP server anyway.

ftp://rx8:mazda@ftp.fsck.co.uk/RX8HIGH-300k.asf

mplayer will play .ASF files if you use the Win32 .DLL codec pack. (Assuming you have an X86 box),,, can't play it on my main workstation becasue of that.

Listen to us Mazda... and anyone else for that matter... we want ISO formats... give us video's in ISO MPEG4... (Divx will do at a push)...

I see what you mean - no coloured instrument pod!

I'm not surprised. Lots of times when a company does a prototype that the know is going to go to production, they build a car strictly for the shows (all show, no go) and a few other test mules... but this is a very well finished test mule indeed.

Thanks for putting the movie up on your FTP.

It's weird though... because this is the first video I got... it's old. Yet the car at the Paris show still had the Yellow pod.

Did you notice the guy get it a bit sideways.... they tried to disguise it I think.

It's prolly because there is a yellow test mule (or more), and a yellow show car (or more). I believe that it was one of the board members here who had a chance to try the back seats and what-not, mentioned that the car had no engine/trunk etc.

Your powers of observation are better than average. I would probably have missed that the yellow on top of the instrument pod was missing. Thanks for the info.
