An exhaust needs to be broken in as well? How long is that process?
I don't feel any noticeable performance increments, nor did I ever expected any :P

atleast my RB exhaust took some time to settle in. after driving for a while it got deeper and a little louder. when i first put it on it was so quiet i was pissed but it eventually got better

Yeah, thats the way a lot of the TRD exhausts are too. I don't know what or how it "breaks-in", but all I know after about a thousand miles, it gets noticeable louder.
