Ok heres mine 15% all around except the windshield. It is way darker then legal here in Indiana and haven't had any problems with it and believe me I'm not even close to being liked by the cops around here...

how often do you get caught for tinting the front windshield? is it illegal to tint the front at all?

As for as I know tinting the front windshield is illegal everywhere in the USA. You might be able to get away with a really low amount of tint but I wouldnt risk it if I were you.

Well...I made a mistake and I actually have 30% in the front, so I had to go change that post!
You know that 30% is actually lighter than 15% right? It's a measure of how much light gets through, not what it blocks. 30% is not that dark.

Oh, and as far as windshield? Here you can have a 5inch strip at 30% I'm prettty sure, but I wasn't going to do that!

35% is the legal limit in ontario.....I have 20% all around......will post pics in the am. I would NOT recomend anything less than 15%, especially in the rear as I don't care what anybody says....you wont be able to see ****....then it becomes a safety issue by itself. I am only saying this becasue I am a police officer and could pull you over if I thought your tinting was too dark......rear not such a big deal in the laws eyes but driver and passenger windows are. Anybody who has the ricey half metallic tinting **** is done for if I see them in ontario.....I hate that ****.

It all depends on the brand and material. There are metalic and non-metalic tints, including ceramic which does not interfer with satelite or antenna reception. Limo tint is usually 5% and you can get it with a mirror finish or black. Colors are also available. The cheaper tints usually stick to the common numbers of 70, 50, 35, 20, and 5 %. 3M tint and Formula One tint have variable tint percentages based on the material used. You may notice the cheaper tints have a purpleish color to them, then an upgrade may be brownish, an upgrade from that would be gray or metalic looking. But this still varies by brand and material.

It also depends on what state you are in to what is legal. I like Nevada and Texas that allows for all windows to be tinted. But of course I live in California. We can paint the rear three windows black, as long as you have two outside mirrors. 70% on the passenger and drivers window and a 6" strip on the windshield. I have 18% on the rear three and the windshield strip, and 70% on the two doors.
