Police!!

On the way to a RX-8 meet in Asheville NC today, following behind RX8Nate from Charlotte. Got pulled over by the Dodge Charger about 10 minutes into the journey. Clocked me going 85 in a 60. But i still say that is BS because my speedo never read over 80. and it reads 3-5mph fast. so i figured we were only doing about 75.

Here's the bastard.

Is it one of those Hemi V8 Chargers or the weak sauce V6?

We have quite a few here in NYC. Unfortunately all the highway patrols and interceptor chargers are Hemis .

I hate cops in so cal! In my town they have nothing to do, so they will pull you over for ANYTHING! Thats why I dont have tint on my front windows anymore. A bored cop pulled me over in MY OWN neighborhood for tint. I want my tint back!

yea i know it sucks, i've been caught too. but you were still speeding. even if it wasn't as much as they stated. they're just tacking on a lil extra income with it...

Actually, I noticed that my speedo is off too. I'm always +3 more than the signs that displays the speed that I'm traveling in the school/construction zones. BTW, stock tires and rims are of the stock size.

I'm not sure how much the ticket is, he gave me a sheet of paper that says when i need to go to court and everything, so i'm not sure how much it is. I need to find a good lawyer to try to get this dropped.

I'm not sure if it was the V6 or the V8. But after he pointed me to get over he floored it to catch up to Nate, who was probably 50 yards ahead of me, and that thing took off, So I'm going to guess that it was the V8 Hemi.

My tires are 225/40 on 18's.

if you dont get any points, i wouldnt bother going to court.

also, about police racing cars... a few weeks ago i saw a maryland state trooper (crown vic) racing a white sentra se-R. they were both doing about 90mph, weaving in and out of traffic.

a sentra? fail. crown vic? double fail.

Only $45 for going 25 over? Even with court costs, that's not bad. Not sure, but in Oklahoma I think it may be considered wreckless driving for 25 over... Maybe you can make the best of your court appearance and get it reduced to probation, worked for me more than once.

Maybe you should go to court and ask him how he was able to clock two cars at once. just kidding. Conviction rates on speeding tickets are like 95%. It's a money making thing for the state. Nothing more. Get a lawyer and get a PJC for it. That way it won't go on your insurance or your license if you keep your nose clean for 3 years. You will still have to pay the court costs and the lawyer though.

Caught in broad daylight?? I don't want to cause trouble, but it sounds like Nate should pay your ticket, too - for not watching closely enough.

Sucks, but nice pic of that fatass po-po!

RI has kept all (all 2, that is ) of the chargers as unmarked. The black one is tinted at 5% - much darker than the tint I had to remove.

sucks you got a ticket but if you were near the 80mph mark, it sound fair.
Hope the ticket isn't too much.

It was complete bull we were never goin over 80, thing is, the speed limit had just dropped from 65 to 60. This wasn't the first time i've been pulled over, so the Trooper walked up and I asked how fast I was goin he said 85 in a 60, even though I know I wasn't goin over 80 I didn't dispute because at that supposed speed 5mph doesn't make a difference. We just got a print out of the ticket, i'm suprised the fine is so low, I already have a PJC due to a retard lawyer but I have a good one now and I'm goin to give him a call tomorrow, we'll see what happends........

FWIW -- I run on 225/45/18 and mine reads 4 KPH fast (according to my GPS which is spot-on in my Sunfire)

I think Mazda likes to clock it faster so they can run out the warranty :-/
