Pics Of My Lowered Blue 8 w/19's

I decided to post some pics of my 8 with the new 19" alloys and lowering done over the past week.

Sorry for the poor photo quality, the weather's crap here today.

Let me know what you guys think.

They're 19x8" HP Design "Onyx".

I'm still unsure whether they suit the 8, but I got them quite cheap so I guess I can't complain. :p

Looks great! What lowering springs did you use? And did you just replace the springs...or shocks as well?

takahashi 10-17-2004 04:58 AM

Nojooc.. your car is the ricest car I have ever seen...

oops :p it is a typo,,, I mean the "nicest" car I have ever seen :p

I've only replaced the standard springs with H&R springs which supposedly is meant to give it a 1.0" inch drop all around, but it seems the front has dropped lower than the rear.

The ride is beautifully smooth considering I'm still on the standard shocks.
The car is a little firmer and sits flatter around corners when pushed hard but is quite liveable on a daily basis.

I can't wait until they settle in.

Highly recommended.

Wait till I stick on a fully sick Veilside kit and huge carbon fibre GT wing.......NOT! :)

Mate...this is high praise coming from me, I dislike most of the aftermarket wheels I've seen on an 8....but I think that looks really smooth. I'd love to see a close-up shot of the wheel?

Gomez.

Thanks mate, glad you like them Gomez. :)

They're actually a shadow chrome finish though in the photos they look polished.

Here's a close up of the rim for you.

Haha! Nojooc, your car looks amazing...I'm considering similar upgrades as yours. Here's what your car looked like before..... ;)

Gomez 10-17-2004 06:41 AM

Thanks for the pic.....the issue now is, what big brake kit to buy to fill the hole! Pity the RX-8 has such good brakes to start with.....!

Gomez.

I think the 8 stops well enough standard, but somewhere along the line I plan on upgrading the rotors to a crossed drilled type and fitting new pads.

I've got a HKS Legamax system.
Sorry I don't have any underbody shots, but here's a pic I took earlier of the backview:

Autoexe sounds like what you are thinking mate... this is not the drilled typed though :o

I just know of a guy in HK distributing it. So I am looking at the Autoexe products right now.
I will come up with something when I go back to Hong Kong in Feb.

I did that once, and cracked them on a hi-perf course track day. I religiously cooled them after every second lap too......

DBA have since changed the design of their drilled and slotted rotors, the holes are now smaller. Just something to be aware of before you step in.....

Regards, Gomez.

Funny, I had DBA cross drilled and slotted rotors on my S14 200SX and never had any problems running them with the standard calipers fitted with Metal compound pads.

Then again, I never took the car around a track, only down straight lines. :)

goforwand 10-17-2004 09:05 AM

Very nice....the car has a great stance (looks like it's ready to pounce to some unsuspecting prey :D )

I'm glad to hear the the springs work well with the stock shocks. This is my biggest fear in lowering the car- the springs and stock shocks won't like each other.

Nice job!

RolenImportsRX8 10-17-2004 12:34 PM

That drop looks perfect, but I can't believe that's only an inch in the front. I was considering a inch in the back, and a 1 1/2 drop in the front. Did you cut the bump stops? Looks great. :)

irish8 10-17-2004 12:43 PM

nojooc...

Nice!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again.....perfect

cgrx 10-17-2004 01:08 PM

those rims go well with the strakes.....

RotorManiac 10-17-2004 05:16 PM

Nice choice, how much do the rims weigh?
