I was almost in the same situation the other day.
Kept trying to start it, but it just wouldn't fire, thought I was gonna have to call a tow truck as well.
Fortunately for me, it finally fired up (weakly) after about the 6th attempt.

I feel for you mate.

Odd to see them tow without using a flat-bed.. did you complain or is this standard issue for Mazda recovery service?

I thought it was a requirement from Mazda to have the RX-8 towed with a flatbed.

I hope you have a front valance left.

And the reason for the flooding....YOU DIDN'T LET THE MOTOR REACH OPERATING TEMPERATURES BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN OR DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK A FEW TIMES. EVEN IF YOU MOVE THE CAR A FEW FEET IT STILL NEEDS TO WARM UP OR ELSE IT WILL FLOOD. Mazda's flashing of the ECU only affects the issue very minutely. you guy dont have all the books about the caring for your 8 do you?

Why do you think it flooded. Did you turn it off even if engine was cold?

Same one

The same exact flooding

The dealer ( gunther madza) said i had water in my engine well it turn out they thought i had water in my engine because when they started my car water came out of the tail pipes. I said you fcking dumb asses of course water come out of the tailpipes its called huminaty and moisture builds up in the pipes it happens to all cars. This is why i wont go to any mazda dealers unless i have to.

I've started/stopped it cold many, many times since buying the car. It's always started fine afterwards.

I'm not saying flooding doesn't happen, but it's apparently not 100% guaranteed to happen if you break the warm-up rule.

I could be wrong, but don't all catalytics create water while they're operating during the first few minutes after startup?
