looks like the only way i'll be able to afford the car is to go with the GS package. of course that means no leather so i was wondering if anyone had pics of the cloth interior?

I believe these pics are of the non-USA RX-8 (gray cloth with gray interior). US models will be black cloth / black interior.

I don't believe there have been any pre-production models with the black cloth (at least I haven't seen any pics). Just another gamble for those of us getting the cloth in the US.

 

Unless they had the European spec seats at Detroit, those are pictures of the black cloth seats we'll get in the US. My pictures from Detroit look just the same-the color just doesn't show up well. The seats on the black car at Detroit weren't midnight black, by any standards, but they were definitely black, and not gray.

 

Elara, do you have your pics from Detroit posted in this forum somewhere? I'm getting black cloth and I sure hope they don't look like the pics above!

I do know that one version (it may be the U.K. version) is definitely gray on gray. I was hoping that's what these were.

 

jonalan it appears you are right on both the us and uk interiors. here is the response from mazdausa:

In regards to your question about the cloth interior, vehicles intended
for the U.S.will only have completely black interiors. Please keep in
kind that some pre-production cars are only concept models and may have
features that will not be a part of the production models.

see the caveat "vehicles intended for the u.s. will only have cmpletely black interiors." other marlets (uk) may be getting the gray

I could be wrong, but it looks like the exact same seats to me. That's interesting that the UK and US will have different cloth seats- I hadn't heard anything- thanks for updating us!
