Anyone interested in Road Racing? The Georgia RX-8 Club went to Barber Motorsports Raceway on July 30 and had a blast. I thought a few of you might be interested in the pics. For those that don't keep up with Grand American racing. The #70 car, above, is the points champion from last year an also is winning this year as well in the ST class. There are two drivers, David Haskell and Sylvain Tremblay (SpeedSource owner and co driver). Haskell is the Driver Points leader followed by Tremblay. They are awesome drivers. They had 4 cars at the race. Of 27 cars in the ST class division, 9 were RX-8's and the #70 won the ST division. What a race! :D

 

I thought the RX-8 lost by .1 seconds to the Cobalt in the last race?

Eitherway they are doing really good this year. I wonder if they are looking for more drivers... hmmm????

 

David Haskell and Sylvain Tremblay were the winners in the No. 70 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8. Haskel started the race from the pole.

Unfortunately , no one in our group took vids of the race that I know of. I carried two video cameras and one still with me to the track but my still camera has such a huge lens and was mounted on a tripod so I couldn't carry a video camera too. Next time I will try to get vids.

 

I do, I do, I have some video of the event. I will work on them tomorrow and try to get them to you silver. I think I was the only one shooting video, cause my pictures sucked, small digital cameras do not catch fast racecars too good.

 

AWESOME! I look forward to them trhoads. Can you get me the original DV tapes? If so I can save them out as QT instead of WMVs. The res will be much better.

 

Hey silver, it is only one tape, and it is only about ten minutes of video. Are you autocrossing this weekend? If so, I will bring the tape Sunday. Let me know, PM me.

I think I pulled 200 opf those pictures, they will be good for the screensaver.

 

Great! Not Xing but I will stop by for a while to watch and shoot. My screen saver never has time to cycle all my images before the monitor goes to sleep.

 

The race is on today (Saturday, Aug 6) at 2:30 on the Speed Channel.

 

I love that SpeedSource race car, so I created my own virtual version in the Xbox Forza video game.:D
