Painted some interior stuff
I've been working on this stuff for a month or so...in between work...(I work at a body shop) Painted them sunlight silver like the car and put a bunch of coats of clear. Tell me what you think. Sorry for the blurry pics on some...my camera was dying, so I had to take them quick.

looks really good.
^thanks!
looks wicked!~
wow that looks real nice and actually looks stock. amazing work!!
05: that looks really really great! very good finish product.
i now feel like doing something similar, but i have a velocity red on red interior...so can't think of how'd it'll look if i went silver like you did. and, did you have to use fine sand paper on all the parts you were goin to paint to get the glossy look? |
personally, i think only your color combination turns out looking good. since i already have matching red interior to go with the exterior... there won't be much point for me to paint parts to match. more silver in my car might just overthrow the red/blk theme...
hmmm... nice job again. well thought out and matches perfect. it be nice if they offer something like that for cars that don't have the red on red combo. |
like the color choice, looks pretty sweet... except maybe the radio.. might be a bit much
not bad...

Looks pretty good man.
WOW~
I must say that is one of the CLEANEST looking interior paint job..... awesome shyt dude! |
damn nice job man!
I agree, the paint job itself looks great. Although I would have stopped at the door panel and backseat pieces. The radio/hvac controls look more like a big CD now.
Really great!

Looks killer, my car was a 1 owner and the previous owner had mine interior paint matched at a body shop...
That is cool, I like the center stack in the back.
That looks awesome!!!
looks great! nice job.
Love that rear pass-thru cover...
That is surprisingly well done! Wow!! It looks suttle in that color... I think if I did it in LY it would be too much!
Wow! very nice. Love the back center console, with the rx8 emblem. Looks very good.

Thank you for the compliment, and I would have to agree with you on not doing the silver with a red/black interior. To answer your other post: The way I prepped the door pieces and radio pieces, I used a gray scotchbrite pad and some surface prep. It's a cleaner/adhesion promoter. that has small abrasives that work with the scotch brite pad in scuffing up the parts in order to get maximum adhesion. I also sprayed a clear adhesion promoter, similar to a sealer over them before I laid the silver. The rear pass thru requires sanding with a DA with 180 grit sandpaper to get rid of the texture. If you go any grittier, then it's easy to ruin. 180 worked perfectly. Then primer of course and then all the above steps I mentioned. For the nav trim and the heated seat trim, I used a dry scotchbrite pad, since I didn't want to get any water damage in the electronic parts. |
thank you to everyone else that's posted comments too, I really appreciate your feedback :) PM me if you have any questions, working on replying to some of the others I already got. :)

:ylsuper: great job, always great to see interiors done with class and restrain,,, do the front dash pieces have a clear on them like the rear center compartment?
If so, good choice... |
^yes 2-3 coats of clear on all pieces. Thanks for the kind words
Looks GREAT!
it all looks great. maybe a tiny bit much on the radio but im not sure. it really came out pretty sweet.
One thing that could make the radio look more consistent is to paint the silver stock edge black that is on the outside of the panels you painted. That way it would be a cleaner circle and match the black edge that goes around the hazzard button.
Would also break the circle look since it connects the two sections. I don't think those silvers match up anyways. Looks a bit off. I like the look of the NAV and heated seat switches. Rear panel looks like there was a decent amount of time put into it. Looks perfect. |
I think the job looks clean and beautiful. Love how your lights reflect off all the shiny surfaces!
thanks for the comments/suggestions all :) this car is always going to be a work in progress!
The door pieces for the window/lock = awesome
rear seat thing = awesome the other stuff i'm not so much a fan of personally but you did a good job quality wise. |

BTW if anyone is interested in me painting your rear pass thru covers, PM me for a price. I promise you its a good deal! |
i like the RX8 in the backseat.
^thanks. Was from rx8strakes.com...It had a solid black rotor around the rx8 but it didn't look good, so I peeled it off.
The next thing I'm thinking about painting is the seatbacks on the 2 front seats. They are that grey color that matches NOTHING in the car. If I painted this sunlight silver, do you think it would be too much? What do you guys think
^^nobody has any thoughts on that idea?^^
bump!
go for it. i dont like the seatbacks either.
